Der neue Beethoven-Zyklus, von Accentus Music produziert und in einer 5-CD-Box im vergangenen Juni veröffentlicht, erhält den International Classical Music Award als „Best Collection“. Er fängt den außergewöhnlichen Geist der langjährigen Partnerschaft zwischen dem legendären Ehrendirigenten und dem Gewandhausorchester Leipzig ein. Alle neun Sinfonien sind Live-Aufnahmen, die zwischen Mai 2014 und März 2017 im Gewandhaus zu Leipzig entstanden sind.

Blomstedts Beethoven-Interpretationen stehen auf dem Fundament eines hoch verantwortlichen Umgangs mit den Partituren und der tiefen Wahrheitsliebe dieses Dirigenten, dem alles Aufgesetzte und vordergründig Effektvolle gründlich fremd ist. Zugleich aber verbindet sich in ihnen das leistungsethische Gewissen des Künstlers mit seiner tiefen, geradezu seismographischen musikalischen Empfindsamkeit und einer hohen Expressivität.

Die Preisverleihung wird am 6. April 2018 in der NOSPR Konzerthalle in Kattowitz, Polen, stattfinden.
