Welcoming back pianist Dmitry Masleev

WildKat PR is delighted to welcome back pianist Dmitry Masleev, the triumphant winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition (2015).

In 2016, WildKat had the opportunity to support Dmitry Masleev during his successful European tour, including a great debut with the Münchner Symphoniker in Munich and a remarkable appearance at the Klavierfestival Ruhr, which was followed by invitations from the Rheingau, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Bad Kissingen festivals. Dmitry Masleev was called a pianist of “virtuoso brilliance” (The Financial Times), possessing “musicality of metaphysical proportions” (Neue Musikzeitung).

2017 began for Masleev with a highly anticipated Carnegie Hall début recital where he performed a “fiercely demanding” programme of Scarlatti, Beethoven, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, and Liszt, which cemented his reputation internationally as “one of the genuinely great pianists of his generation” (New York City Informer).

WildKat is very happy to support Dmitry Masleev for his next great debut: on March 11th Dmitry Masleev will perform Rachmaninoff’s Variations on the Theme of Paganini at the Konzerthaus Berlin with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and Robert Trevino. Dmitry Masleev, pianist and first prize winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition, brings classical music up close: using a GoPro camera, he films himself playing Nikolai Kapustin’s Concert Etude No. 3 ‘Toccatina’, a virtuosic etude that makes you wonder how he manages to achieve such a steady image while his fingers are dancing over the piano.

With GoPro cameras, normally used for spectacular sport videos, you can provide a unique, personal perspective from the performer’s viewpoint. Anne Sophie Mutter already uses it and the Royal Opera House used 31 cameras to film their performance of Rossini’s William Tell Overture and create an orchestra guide.

Get your own close-up experience, watch the video and feel like you are playing the piece yourself!

WildKat PR is delighted to introduce our latest client, Russian pianist Dmitry Masleev, winner of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition 2015.

Dmitry Masleev won first price at the International Tchaikovsky Competition and became the centre of interest with rare unanimous support from the audience, the jury and the media. The Neue Musikzeitung reported:

“His musicality of metaphysical proportions transformed the hall. There was a feeling that we entered an alternative reality. This sensation continued into the final round with the Tchaikovsky B- minor and Prokofiev Third Piano concertos… The joy and relief on the faces of the jurors said it all: we have found the true winner.“

In addition to the gold medal, the distinguished jury of the Tchaikovsky Competition awarded him with a special prize for his interpretation of a Mozart concerto. Since the competition in 2015, Masleev has toured extensively, delighting his audiences in New York, London, Munich, Rotterdam, Stockholm, Beijing and all over Russia with what the Financial Times described as “virtuoso brilliance”.
