The first podcast from Noted has been released, following the Noted Roundtable on Inclusion and Diversity.

Noted Round-ups are short podcasts that follow the Noted Roundtables – an international series which looks to bring about change in the performing arts industry through discussion and implementation. Through Noted, we want to generate new solutions to industry problems, not just with our own industry members and artists, but with brand leaders from different fields, and also—most importantly—the audience! The Roundtables bring together this unique combination of stakeholders on an equal footing.

The very first Noted Round-ups episode is a discussion on what was originally “diversity”, but now referred to as “inclusivity”. Here we discuss minorities in the performing arts industry, focusing on those backstage (not on stage), covering race, gender, background, and more.

We came out of this session with the following action points:

  • When recruiting, be more explicit about what we don’t want or need (e.g. an arts degree), and present the image of our ideal candidate in the advertising
  • Either ensure that job titles clearly state what the position is, or make them more sexy and fun
  • Create inclusive communities in the performing arts administrative sector, spanning across both audiences and potential employees
  • Showcase the exciting elements of our industry, through podcasts, videos, partnerships with mainstream brands
  • Shake up internal systems – reverse mentoring, creative sessions led by interns, engage more with outside the industry

This episode is hosted by Kathleen Alder and Olivia Brown, produced and edited by Olivia.

Olivia Brown has taken up the position of Director, London Office at WildKat PR.  Previously Head of Creative Strategy & Marketing, Olivia will continue to be responsible for creative strategy at WildKat, exploring and implementing new services, and running the branding and social media strands of the company.

Her new role will also entail overseeing all business here in the UK and Ireland, and working with Carolin Denz (Director, Berlin Office) to develop and progress the WildKat brand, as well as working with the Founder, Kathleen Alder, to adapt WildKat to our ever-changing industry.

Kathleen Alder, Founder of WildKat PR commented: “It is with great delight that we announce the promotion of Olivia Brown to Director, London Office. Olivia has always been a dedicated and hardworking member of the WildKat PR team and has displayed a great deal of passion to the field of music and performing arts. Olivia first joined us in her ‘year in industry’ while studying at the University of Leeds, and after joining the London office as a full-time member of staff has overseen the expansion of our traditional services such as PR, marketing and social media to include more creative services such as branding, surveys and a more tailored approach to our services.

“Olivia has a proven track record of team leadership and a determination to provide the best possible service for our extensive client roster, and I am excited to see where she will lead the London office in the future. Olivia’s youth, talent and enthusiasm befits the overall company ethos and she will join myself and our Berlin Director Carolin Denz in running the company overall.”

Olivia commented: “It’s been an incredibly exciting and rewarding adventure to experience WildKat transform in the past 5 years, from when I started as an intern to the newly created position that I began last year.

“I am incredibly grateful to Kat for providing me with the structure and support to confidently lead the company from within, which is often very rare in our industry. Meanwhile, Kat continues to champion the young leaders of the classical music industry, regardless of age, gender, or background. As Director, London Office, I look forward to further leading the company into exciting new territories, both through anticipating the future of the industry and reacting to it, and also overseeing our expansion into the U.S. and France in 2018.”

WildKat PR is very happy to announce that Matt Brinkworth is our newest Account Manager to join the team in the London office.

Matt’s career within the Music PR industry has been as varied as his own personal tastes, working on projects that have ranged from electronic music giants such as Claptone and Axwell & Ingrosso to South Korea’s largest rock band YB, taking him from the front rows of London Fashion Week to the backstage of Reading Festival.

At WildKat, Matt will join the already talented team of London Account Managers, working closely with the Berlin and New York offices, bringing with him his unique brand of creative and engaging press relations.

Kathleen Alder, Founder and Director of WildKat PR commented:

“WildKat is known to push the boundaries in both our approach and our results for our clients. We are so excited to have Matt join us and his experience in mainstream and celebrity PR bring a whole new perspective to our team.”

Matt Brinkworth commented:

“When it came to looking for a new challenge to inspire me, after meeting with Founder Kathleen and Head of Creative Strategy & Marketing Olivia Brown, WildKat stood out immediately. The company’s culture and ethos of forward thinking, outside of the box, promotional campaigns coupled with the office’s organically exciting energy is in complete synergy with my own style. Add in the quality of their client roster and it was impossible to see myself joining anywhere else. I couldn’t be more excited to join a team that has already carved its own lane in this industry and contribute to that further with our clients.”

Very happy to have you on board!
