Deine Aufgaben:

Job Description

WildKat PR is offering an exciting opportunity to join our London team. Working with the Founder, Director of the London Office, they will learn how to develop and execute creative PR campaigns across the classical music and cultural industries in order to generate coverage and publicity for our clients.

Key Duties

As an Account Manager:

  • To manage your set of clients and work with them to help achieve their PR goals. This includes: gaining press, attracting new audiences, helping to improve their brand, organising events
  • To think creatively about how you (and your colleagues) approach campaigns. You will be asked to continually make new connections and approach your work in innovative ways. You will be expected to challenge how we, and the industry, are doing things
  • To integrate digital media into campaigns. This means exploring new technology and developing ways to include it in client campaigns
  • To take a leading role in the development and execution of unique, creative campaigns to promote your clients and the company
  • To write copy in relation to your clients’ needs, including: fact sheets, bios, blogposts, newsletters, brochures
  • To liaise with journalists to generate and secure media coverage for clients
  • To organise client events, as needed. This includes: concerts, VIP receptions, industry networking events
  • To attend all relevant artists’ events (which regularly occur outside of office hours) including meetings and performances
  • To network within the industry to build your reputation and that of the company
  • To oversee the work of others when required, and to be willing to grow into a more senior role

Lately, it seems like the younger generation is divided into two. One half is permanently glued to their digital device, drowning in social media, and can hardly imagine their life without Netflix and Instagram. The other half are rebelling, attempting something easily described as a “digital detox”.

A Digital detox can be defined as a period of time during which a person steps back from using electronic devices such as smartphones or computers in order to disconnect to the online world. By many, it is regarded as an opportunity to reduce stress or focus on real-life social interactions. Stress is proven to be caused by being connected, being online (literally), being available to anyone’s whim 24 hours per day, every day. A recent study from regulator Ofcom concluded that, on average, UK adults spend 25 hours a week online. And that number is constantly increasing.

So can classical music help us to escape the digital chokehold?

Listening to classical music

It is generally accepted that classical music has many positive effects on our brains, sometimes known as “the Mozart effect”. Listening to classical music is proven to boost memory function, sparks creativity, improves productivity and generally makes us feel happier and more relaxed. It can even improve the quality of our (much needed) sleep and help to ease symptoms of depression and melancholy. So why not to turn your phone off, take a deep breath and meditate while listening to classical music after a long working day or just before going to sleep? In our busy and over-connected world it is important to have some time for yourself, to slow things down and classical music is a perfect source of relaxation.

Learning an instrument

From recent research, musical instrument training can have a surprising effect on the structure of our brain. This concerns not only children but also adults and the elderly. Learning an instrument increases the capacity of our memory, enhances spatial reasoning and improves literacy skills. Moreover, musical training requires us to concentrate on one task at once. Concentrating on one task can help us to stay productive; not only while learning an instrument, but one can apply this knowledge to many other crucial tasks.

Attending classical music concerts

Listening to classical music encourages us to think deeply, connect better to ourselves and also connect to the people around us. Going to venues also means connecting to real people, talking to them, and socialising in real life. Sometimes we all need to take a step back from technology now and again. Attending classical music venues reminds us of being fully present in the world. Moreover, classical music concerts are beautiful, not only aurally, but also visually.

Considering all the benefits of classical music, we can utilise it to make our digital detox easier and our life more mindful and deliberate. Likewise, classical music helps us relax and put ourselves in a better mood. So, let’s switch off our mobile phones from time to time and allow us to be unavailable. Or, to put it in in the words of Chris Baréz-Brown: “Get lost in music with others and you might just find yourself.”

We are delighted to announce that the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 27th August as part of the 2017 BBC Proms programme.

Led by Musical Director Louis Langrée, the programme for the evening will be in keeping with the CSO’s history of championing American music, with a performance of Leonard Bernstein’s ‘Symphonic Suite’ from On the Waterfront, a highly descriptive symphonic portrait of New York City. In 1942, at the height of World War Two, the CSO premiered Aaron Copland’s ‘Lincoln Portrait’ written as a musical tribute to the former president, and will perform it again with a special guest speaker to be announced soon. Tchaikovsky’s majestic Symphony No. 5 will conclude the second half of the concert.

Founded in 1895, the CSO is the sixth oldest orchestra in the United States, and the first to be broadcast to a national radio audience in 1921. This concert coincides with an extensive European tour in which the CSO will visit countries including Scotland, Spain, and others to be announced soon.

Details of all concerts and events in the 2017 Proms season were announced today. Tickets are now available to purchase from the Royal Albert Hall website.

Mein Praktikum bei WildKat neigt sich dem Ende zu: Nach nur 2 Monaten muss ich die Agentur schweren Herzens wieder verlassen, denn die Semesterferien sind vorbei. Ab nächster Woche heißt es wieder büffeln und vor allem viel lesen, denn die Uni geht wieder los und mein Studium macht sich nicht von alleine.
