The ninth Planet Tree Music Festival kicks off tomorrow, running until 26th October in Hampstead, North London.

Founder and composer Lawrence Ball has curated the festival with the aim of creating an immersive experience for those wishing to connect to a higher sphere through deep engagement with classical music. Audiences are encouraged to lie down, meditate and experience the sound worlds presented, championing an alternative way of listening. The outdated rules employed in traditional concert halls are discarded in favour of a more accessible experience rooted in spirituality and relaxation.

Similar in format to Max Richter’s sold-out ‘Sleep’, the 2017 Planet Tree Music Festival offers concert attendees the opportunity to lie down and relax into cosmic sound worlds, with a host of international musicians performing music specially written for this year’s programme.

The festival was opened by Terry Riley in 1996, establishing its ethos and reputation as one that showcases tonal, non-elitist contemporary music. The programme deals with the brighter side of contemporary classical music, featuring pieces by popular composers including Max Richter and Arvo Pärt.

Collaborator and performer James D’Angelo says: “The Planet Tree Music Festival has established a new forum for contemporary music that returns music to its spiritual roots and gets people in touch with their souls hungry for impressions of who and what they are… No composer could ask for anything more than the refined atmosphere that is the Planet Tree Music Festival.”

Tickets can be purchased on the door of each of the venues, namely the Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel and All Hallows Church, Hampstead. Full concert details can be found here.

WildKat has, so far, secured coverage for Planet Tree Music Festival in PRS M Magazine, Culture Whisper, International Arts Manager, and local newspaper Camden New Journal. Stay tuned for more!

WildKat PR is thrilled to welcome Inclusive Creativity! The project, based in Northern Ireland, was devised by composer Frank Lyons of Ulster University. It aims to level the playing field in performance and composition for disabled musicians by developing innovative instrumental technology and methodologies that allow for side-by-side performance with professional musicians.

In 2015, three partner organisations (Walled City Music, Drake Music and St. Magnus International Festival) received funding from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to develop a pilot participatory project using ‘inclusive creativity’ as its driving principle. The project brought together musicians and composers to research participant-led routes into collaborative music making. Under the direction of professor Lyons, an ensemble of disabled and non-disabled artists met regularly to improvise and compose music together in Derry/Lononderry. They used assistive music technology (AMT) as well as more conventional musical instruments. This ensemble became Acoustronic.

A performance featuring Acoustronic and partner ensemble the Benyounes Quartet will perform Lyons’s specially-commissioned work ‘NonZeroSum’ and George Crumb’s ‘Black Angels’ at Rich Mix on 5th September.

Olivia Brown, Head of Creative Strategy and Marketing, said: “Inclusive Creativity is an incredibly inspiring project that provides essential opportunities for disabled musicians. Especially with disability often being left out of diversity conversations in the classical industry and beyond, it’s vital that projects like this are championed across the sector and WildKat are delighted to support this pioneering and forward-thinking collaboration.”

The concerts in London and Dublin are kindly supported by PRS for Music’s ‘Breaking Borders’, CGF’s ‘Sharing the Stage’ and the British Council

WildKat PR is very pleased to be working with composer and pianist Andrew James Johnson on his upcoming album release and concert, following the launch of his new brand.

Olivia Brown, Head of Creative Strategy and Marketing, says: “Working alongside our in-house design team classicalmusicdesign, WildKat has created a brand and visual identity for Andrew that truly represents both his bold, friendly personality and his enchanting yet sensitive compositions. We’re very much looking forward to continuing our collaboration, and sharing Andrew’s debut album with the press and music industry.”

Andrew is a composer and pianist who grew up in Birmingham, England, and despite having no formal training on the piano in his childhood, immersed himself in the works of Beethoven, Schumann and Chopin. After his parents agreed to pay for lessons, Andrew’s eagerness and innate musicality developed rapidly into a passion for piano performance, before he moved onto composition.

Andrew began to draw upon a combination of classical training and contemporary influences, completing a BA in Composition at the London College of Music.  His compositional style combines rich harmonic language with expansive pianistic techniques, revealing the influence of the Romantic-era composers that so inspired him in his youth.

In the years that followed his graduation from the LCM, Andrew undertook commissions for film, television and theatre. Credits include televised advertisements for HSBC and Timotei. Andrew’s compositions take inspiration from everyday life, and his creative process makes use of the full tonal range of the keyboard, drawing on influences from his role models Max Richter and Philip Glass.

We are thrilled to be working with Andrew on his debut album release ‘Winter’s Heart’, due for release in November 2017.

WildKat PR is delighted to be working with 7K!, the new neo-classical Hub launched by the independent label !K7 Records.

7K! is a new platform and home for neo-classical projects which will be supported by the in-house expertise and spirit of legendary music company !K7 records. 7K! will comprise a record label and label services collective, as well as sync and artist management divisions.

In the first quarter of 2017, the label will kick off its release schedule with the album ‘Endless’ by multi-instrumentalist and globally-renowned composer Luca D’Alberto. Last week, two concerts took place in Berlin at Silent Green, including one sell-out performance.

D’Alberto is a brilliant, mold-breaking musician who is already highly regarded on the classical scene, as both a multi-instrumentalist and composer. He is a favourite composer of directors such as Peter Greenaway, Wim Wenders and Fernando Arrabal. His upcoming album ‘Endless’ is the result of his decision to shake up his classical training into new charters, preferring instead to use his talents to create a more contemporary style of music that sees him exploring the pairing of electronics with acoustic instruments. ‘Endless’ was produced by Martyn Heyne (Tiny Ruins, The National) and Henrik Schwarz, and is preceded by the single ‘Wait For Me’, released in December.

Watch here the official video to “Wait For Me”, a love Story told only by hands.

WildKat PR is very much looking forward to bringing D’Alberto and his music to the music world with a focus on the German press.

Carolin, Director of the Berlin office: „We are excited to be helping prestigious !K7 records on their new launch of the neo-classical label 7K! We have already successfully worked on projects with neo-classical composers such as Max Richter and Chad Lawson, reaching out to new audiences with their modern sound. We look forward to supporting !K7’s growth in the German music industry through active press work and consultancy.“

Keep up to date with 7K! on the !K7 website and Luca D’Alberto on his website and on the WildKat PR blog.

WildKat PR is pleased to be working with London-based Ensemble Perpetuo once again.

Perpetuo’s concerts appeal to all senses through collaborations with choreographers, chefs, artists, sculptors and photographers for their live shows.

Formed in 2013 by British oboist James Turnbull, the group specialises in these multi-art form collaborations, with several talented musicians at the heart of the performance. Traveling around the UK allows them to perform in a variety of locations such as theatres, museums and cafes, enhancing the power of the context of both traditional and contemporary music.

Ensemble Perpetuo presented their sold-out launch event Cityscapes earlier in 2015. With music spanning 200 years inspired by the world’s great cities, art and photographs featuring urban landscapes, sculpture and a dance created for one of the works, the event was a perfect introduction to the group’s work.

In the coming months, WildKat PR will work with the ensemble on two London events. On the 6th September, the group will present Rivers & Oceans, a collaboration with Bitter Suite at Rich Mix London in which the audience will enjoy food themed around each piece of music on the programme. For tickets, see the Rich Mix website.

On the 9th November, they look further afield in their Heavenly Sights concert. Alongside music inspired by other planets, the audience can experiment with an interactive sculpture which converts sound into visible light. Keep an eye on the WildKat PR blog and the ensemble’s website for updates.

WildKat PR is delighted to introduce our newest client Anneleen Lenaerts. The 28 year old Belgian harpist is making  a name for herself as one of the leading soloists on her instrument. Since December 2010, Anneleen has been the Principal Harpist of the Vienna Philharmonic. With her Album ‘Harp Concertos’, she presents a 2015 remastering of fellow Belgian composer, Joseph Jongen’s music. Anneleen has also released two other CDs, ‘Chopin&Liszt’ and a collaboration with oboist Karel Schoofs. She furthermore collaborated with last season’s raising star clarinetist Dionysis Grammenos.

From an early age she started winning an impressive array of prizes, namely 17 prizes between 1997 and 2009, of which the “Grand Prix International Lily Laskine” and the ARD International Music Competition in Munich are particularly outstanding. Since then, she has played in many high-profile venues all over the world, including Wigmore Hall in London and the Festspielhaus in Salzburg.

Whilst the romantic lyricism of these works is closely associated with the qualities of the harp, it is her virtuosity which gains particular attraction, thanks to Anneleen Lenaerts’ skill and articulation. Highly praised by critics, she is known for her impressive technical ability, her precise playing, variety of tone and excellent musical phrasing. This year she will be touring the USA as well as Germany, Austria and Belgium.

We are very much looking forward to working with Anneleen and to help her getting a bigger audience for her wonderful music. Keep checking the WildKat PR blog for updates and also WildKat PR blog for updates and also Anneleen’s website.
