Basel Composition Competition

The Basel Composition Competition (BCC) was created in honor of Paul Sacher, and invites musicians of all ages and nationalities to bring their works to Basel for their world premiere. Three of these works will be selected and awarded monetary prizes at the closing ceremony. Following the success of the second BCC in 2019, a third competition will be held from 3 to 7 March 2021. The intention of Basel music manager Christoph Müller, who first conceived the BCC in 2015 in collaboration with the Paul Sacher Foundation, was to attract the most exciting composers in the world to Basel and have their works premiered by the city’s orchestras.

The members of the jury will include the composers Michael Jarrell (Jury President), Unsuk Chin, Beat Furrer and Andrea Scartazzini, as well as the Director of the Paul Sacher Foundation, Felix Meyer. The nominated works will be performed by the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Sinfonietta.

WildKat PR is thrilled to accompany the Competition in France, Germany and UK.
