Kevin Chen is a remarkable pianist. Starting to play at just five years old, by age eight Chen had been named one of CBC’s Top 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians under 30. He has since won numerous accolades: he is the youngest-ever winner of the Franz Liszt Interntational Piano Competition; he won first prize at the Concours de Genève; and first prize in the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition. Since his first orchestral debut at the age of seven, Chen has performed with world-class orchestras like the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In the words of his teacher, Marilyn Engle, Chen is undoubtedly a ‘phenomenal musician, with a phenomenal ear, an incredible brain, and last but not least an incredible heart’.
As well as being an exceptional player, Chen is an accomplished composer. He has over 100 works to his name, including River Rhapsody, which he composed and performed in 2013 to commemorate the High River flood.
WildKat looks forward to continuing working with Chen to build his presence online.
