Sir Andrew Davis will be returning to the Proms this evening as conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The once chief conductor at the proms said that while he has held few posts, this being only his third orchestral position, he has held them all for a very long time.

It seems that the end of the Met Opera saga is in sight. The Metropolitan Opera and two of its unions agreed that to avoid the calamities that have silenced swaths of the classical music world, they would have to scale back. They are still awaiting talks with numerous other smaller unions.
