BACKFurther no-deal Brexit advice for musicians published
The UK Government has confirmed that an additional four ports (Belfast Seaport, Dover, Eurotunnel and Holyhead) will be designated to handle the movement of protected animals or plants to ensure there is enough capacity to transport CITES products in the event of a no-deal Brexit. Anyone wishing to bring a specimen of a protected species of animal or plant – including, for example, ivory in musical instruments – into the UK or export to the EU will require a CITES document in the event of a no-deal Brexit. Such documents must be applied for in advance of travel and endorsed by Border Force at a CITES-designated point of entry or exit.
Erste “Oper! Awards” verliehen
Die Sopranistin Edita Gruberová hat den erstmals vergebenen “Oper! Award” erhalten. Die Künstlerin wurde damit für ihr Lebenswerk geehrt, teilte die Zeitschrift “Oper! Das Magazin” in der Nacht zu Sonntag mit. Der Preis wurde im Werner-Otto-Saal des Berliner Konzerthauses verliehen. Insgesamt gab es 20 Kategorien. Als “Beste Aufführung” wurde “Die Zauberin” an der Opéra de Lyon ausgezeichnet, als “Beste Uraufführung” Detlev Glanerts “Oceane” an der Deutschen Oper Berlin. Der Preis für den “Besten Regisseur” ging an Frederic Wake-Walker. Als “Beste Kostümbildnerin” und “Bester Bühnenbildner” nahmen Rosa Loy und Neo Rauch die Auszeichnung entgegen. Zum “Besten Festival” kürte die Jury aus Musikjournalisten das Donizetti Opera Festival Bergamo.
First “Opera! Awards” awarded
The soprano Edita Gruberová has won the first “Opera! Award”. The artist was honoured for her life’s work, as mentioned by the magazine “Oper! Das Magazin” on the night of Sunday. The prize was awarded in the Werner Otto Hall of the Berlin Konzerthaus. There were a total of 20 categories. The “Best Performance” went to “Die Zauberin” at the Opéra de Lyon and the “Best World Premiere” to Detlev Glanert’s “Oceane” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The prize for “Best Director” went to Frederic Wake-Walker. Rosa Loy and Neo Rauch accepted the award as “Best Costume Designer” and “Best Stage Designer”. The jury of music journalists chose the Donizetti Opera Festival Bergamo as “Best Festival”.

9 opus (du baroque au contemporain) et 9 activités originales (pour tous) à l’affiche : présentation complète du programme à l’Opéra Comique de Paris pour 2020 (l’institution fonctionne désormais au rythme des années civiles). Pour sa quatrième saison depuis la réouverture de la Salle Favart, l’Opéra Comique retisse un lien hors-les-murs et en souvenir de sa période de travaux : en 2016, Christian Boltanski, Jean Kalman et Franck Krawczyk avaient créé Pleine Nuit dans le chantier, en 2020 ils investiront le parking Berger, niveau -1 sous le Centre Pompidou (durant la rétrospective Christian Boltanski) avec Fosse : “Tel Dante ou Orphée, le visiteur erre dans un lieu indéterminé, immergé dans ce qui se passe au-dessous, sous la surface, sous la scène, déplaçant l’enjeu sur ce qui ordinairement tend à être dissimulé. Fosse, ou l’opéra comme mise en abîme.” Cette commande de l’Opéra Comique sera défendue par la soprano Karen Vourc’h, la violoncelle solo Sonia Wieder-Atherton ainsi que le Chœur accentus.

9 opuses (from baroque to contemporary) and 9 original activities (for all) on the program: complete presentation of the program at the Opéra Comique de Paris for 2020 (the institution now operates to the rhythm of the calendar years). For its fourth season since the reopening of the Salle Favart, the Opéra Comique is rebuilding an out-of-the-wall link and in memory of its construction period: in 2016, Christian Boltanski, Jean Kalman and Franck Krawczyk created Pleine Nuit in the construction site, in 2020 they will invest the Berger car park, level -1 under the Centre Pompidou (during the Christian Boltanski retrospective) with Fosse: “Like Dante or Orpheus, the visitor wanders in an undetermined place, immersed in what happens below, below the surface, below the stage, moving the stakes to what usually tends to be hidden. Pit, or the opera as an abyss.” This commission of the Opéra Comique will be defended by soprano Karen Vourc’h, solo cello Sonia Wieder-Atherton and the Accented Choir.
