BACKPinsent Masons becomes new In Harmony Opera North ambassador
International law firm Pinsent Masons has announced that it will support Opera North’s music education programme In Harmony Opera North over the next three years. The programme, which aims to transform the lives of children in deprived communities through ensemble music-making, impacts the lives of over 1800 pupils in full-time education in South Leeds. Participating schools include Windmill Primary School in Belle Isle, Low Road Primary School in Hunslet, New Bewerley Community Primary School in Beeston and Richmond Hill Academy in Cross Green.

Gar nicht so einfach, das Thema Chancengleichheit für Mädchen und Jungen in Chören vorsichtig abzulösen von der aktuellen Diskussion um Knabenchöre, die sich gegen die Aufnahme von weiblichen Stimmen wehren. Institutionen wie der Staats- und Domchor erscheinen plötzlich als reich alimentierte patriarchale Rückzugsräume.
Tatsächlich genießen die traditionsreichen Knabenchöre eine Förderung, von der Sabine Wüsthoff, die Leiterin des Berliner Mädchenchors, nur träumen kann. Vor 33 Jahren bewusst als Pendant zum berühmten Nachbarn gegründet, fehle ihrem Ensemble bis heute eine institutionelle Absicherung, allen internationalen Preisen zum Trotz. Wüsthoff nennt die Summe von 200 000 Euro, mit der ihr Chor seine 200 aktiven Sängerinnen umfassend bilden könnte.
Im Gespräch zeigt sich schnell ein Paradox: Obwohl Knabenchöre leistungsorientiert arbeiten, singen insgesamt weit mehr Mädchen. In gemischten Chören aller Altersstufen fehlt es an männlichen Stimmen. Gleichberechtigung hieße dann, Mädchen Zugang zu Exzellenz zu verschaffen und gleichzeitig an der Basis um mehr Jungen zu werben

Le Palazzetto Bru Zane – Centre de musique romantique française célèbre ses 10 ans d’action pour la redécouverte et le rayonnement international du patrimoine musical français du grand XIXe siècle (1780-1920). Un concert de Gala réunit ses artistes amis, son répertoire. Redécouvrir de nouvelles facettes insoupçonnées de célébrités internationales ou bien faire la découverte de noms demeurés méconnus voire injustement inconnus : ce projet du Palazzetto Bru Zane s’applique à merveille aux compositeurs et aux œuvres à l’honneur de ce concert de Gala, mais tout aussi bien aux interprètes ! Les figures tutélaires que sont Véronique Gens et Tassis Christoyannis, fidèles parmi les fidèles du projet et de l’esthétique, emmèneront un plateau étincelant avec l’étoile montante Cyrille Dubois. Les couleurs baroquisantes et classiques seront offertes par Chantal Santon-Jeffery et Judith van Wanroij, le lyrisme osé par Marie Gautrot.

The Palazzetto Bru Zane – Centre de musique romantique française celebrates its 10 years of action for the rediscovery and international influence of the French musical heritage of the great 19th century (1780-1920). A Gala concert brings together his friends and his repertoire.
