The Times has launched its Christmas carol competition for 2016.
The winning entry will be performed by the Bach Choir on 16 December at Cadogan Hall and published in the Times before 31 March 2017.

It was with some trepidation that I set out last week to try “Soundwalk 9:09,” a piece the Metropolitan Museum of Art commissioned from John Luther Adams, the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer. Composed of sounds recorded in the area, the work is intended for people to listen to on their smartphones as they make the eight-block walk between the museum’s mother ship, on Fifth Avenue, and its new outpost, the Met Breuer, in the old Whitney building on Madison Avenue.

Geiger Frank Peter Zimmermann erhält Stradivari zurück
Der Geiger Frank Peter Zimmermann bekommt die Stradivari “Lady Inchiquin” zurück. Das Instrument aus dem Jahr 1711 werde Zimmermann künftig wieder zur Verfügung gestellt, sagte NRW-Kulturministerin Christina Kampmann am Montag in Düsseldorf.

Der Deutsche Kulturrat hat das 1990 gegründete Kunstfest Weimar auf seine Rote Liste der bedrohten Kultureinrichtungen gesetzt. Thüringens größtes und bekanntestes Festival für zeitgenössische Künste sei ab 2019 massiv in seiner Existenz bedroht, erklärte Kulturrat-Geschäftsführer Olaf Zimmermann am Montag in Berlin.
