The 27-year-old Russian pianist Nikita Mndoyants has won the 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition, a tightly contested, two-week contest, which began on 24 July with 31 unusually well-qualified candidates.
Corps of Army Music offering £10,000 Golden Hello
The Corps of Army Music is offering a ‘Golden Hello’ of up to £10,000 for players of specific instruments or instrumental groups. The new incentive is an opportunity available not only to new applicants to the Army, but also to internal transferees from other Corps and Regiments within the Army, as well as those transferring from the Reserve Army and those who want to ‘re-join’ after being out of the Army for more than two years.

Deep Time castle display opens Edinburgh International Festival
A spectacular light display on the side of Edinburgh Castle has marked the opening of the city’s International Festival. Dubbed Deep Time, the event, soundtracked by Glasgow post-rock band Mogwai, saw the landmark used as a canvas for animated projections taking in 350 million years of history.
