The First Night of the BBC Proms

The excitement exuding from the Royal Albert Hall on Friday night could be felt even in Hyde Park. As I made my own way through the grand gardens from Paddington station, others bustled past. Some were dressed up for the occasion, others were in jeans and backpacks, and all had a palpable air of expectation.

SWR Symphony gives final performance

Audience members held up placards with red hearts on them as a mark of solidarity as the SWR Symphony Orchestra gave its final concert in Freiburg on 17 July.

NCO invites applications for auditions

Globe launches label

A new series of recordings will capture the candlelit ambience and warm acoustics of Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe. Globe Music is a new record label launched by Shakespeare’s Globe, and will feature live recordings made in its famous wooden theatre.

Kurt Wallander’s latest challenge isn’t solving a crime: it’s singing on stage. A new opera titled W: The Truth Beyond starring the fictitious Swedish sleuth premiered this weekend in Tübingen, Germany. It will now travel to Ystad, Sweden, Wallander’s hometown.
