It’s been several years in the making, but finally the Dubai Opera house is ready to start accepting guests. And Time Out Dubai were among the first people inside the spectacular auditorium. Ahead of Placido Domingo live on August 31, some select guests were given the chance to see the 2,000-seater auditorium in all its glory, before being treated to am orchestral dress rehersal of The Barber Of Seville, an iconic opera coming early September.

BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists announced
BBC Radio 3 has announced the latest group of young musicians to join its New Generation Artists (NGA) scheme. The six artists and ensembles come from the USA, Norway, Egypt, Romania, the Netherlands and the UK, and will take up their places on the scheme this September.

Morgan Pearse wins International Cesti Voice Competition 2016
Australian baritone Morgan Pearse has won the 2016 International Cesti Voice Competition. He wins €4,000 (£3,400), and will perform in Baroque Opera:Young’s production of Reinhard Keiser’s Octavia at the 2017 Innsbruck Festival. He will also sing at Resonanzen Wien 2017 and will be engaged by the Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci.

Festivalen, som har vært arrangert hvert år siden 1991, har mistet alle sine ansatte. Risør kammermusikkfest 2017 skulle etter planen finnes sted fra 27. juni til 2. juli neste år. Nå har styret bestemt at neste festival ikke skal arrangeres før i 2018.
