In today’s news round-up, British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor has been named as the recipient of the New York Philharmonic’s Ronnie and Lawrence Ackman Classical Piano Prize. Royal Northern College of Music announced a new professional partnership with Peking University Academy of Opera. Also, Bob Shennan has been promoted to Director Of Radio, and will take responsibility of all BBC Radios, as well as the BBC Performing Groups, the BBC Proms, BBC Music and radio production.

Unbekanntes Kirchner-Bild entdeckt

Im Städel Museum Frankfurt ist ein bislang völlig unbekanntes Werk des Malers Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938) aufgetaucht. Das expressionistische Gemälde zeigt eine Szene in einem Café und war auf denselben Rahmen gespannt wie das Bild “Schlittenfahrt im Schnee” – wurde von diesem aber verdeckt.
