Research grants totaling almost £1m awarded to the Royal College of Music

The Royal College of Music has been awarded three grants totaling almost £1m for new research projects launching in 2019/20.‘Music, Migration and Mobility: The Legacy of Migrant Musicians from Nazi-Europe in Britain’ has been awarded £900,000 by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Led by RCM researcher and vocal coach Norbert Meyn, the three-year project will study the creative output of musicians who came to Britain from Nazi-ruled Europe in the 1930s and ‘40s. It will include a series of open rehearsal workshops, public performances and recordings along with a programme of archival research in the UK, Germany, Austria and the Isle of Man. Meyn will work in collaboration with two co-investigators: Peter Adey, professor of Human Geography at Royal Holloway University of London, and Nils Grosch, professor of Musicology at Salzburg University.

It is not the first time that Solange, the singer, composer and musician, who finally stepped out of the artistic shadow of her older sister Beyoncé three years ago with her fourth album, A Seat at the Table, asks her fans to dress a certain way for the evening.

Le Grand Théâtre de Tours profite des journées du patrimoine pour se dévoiler au grand public.

Ce samedi 21 septembre, au Grand Théâtre de Tours, est une journée consacré aux patrimoines: le patrimoine architectural, bien sûr, le patrimoine musical mais aussi le patrimoine vivant: celui qui s’écrit chaque jour grâce au travail des artistes, techniciens, artisans et différents personnels qui font vivre l’Opéra. Samedi matin, une guide conférencière du Service patrimoine de la Ville de Tours accompagnera les visiteurs dans une visite guidée, au cours de laquelle seront présentés et expliqués l’architecture et l’histoire du Grand Théâtre. L’après-midi, ce sera l’occasion unique d’assister aux répétitions publiques du tout premier Spectacle Lyrique de la saison : Cosi fan tutte

The Grand Théâtre as we know it today takes advantage of Heritage Days to unveil itself to the general public.

This Saturday, September 21, at the Grand Théâtre de Tours, is a day devoted to heritage: the architectural heritage, of course, the musical heritage but also the living heritage: the one that is written every day thanks to the work of the artists, technicians, craftsmen and various staff who make the Opera live. On Saturday morning, a guide from the Heritage Department of the City of Tours will accompany visitors on a guided tour, during which the architecture and history of the Grand Théâtre will be presented and explained.
