BACKChristopher Glynn and Rachel Podger join for Music in Hospitals & Care fundraiser
Baroque violinist Rachel Podger and accompanist Christopher Glynn will perform at the Royal Northern College of Music on 9 November 2019 to raise money for the charity Music in Hospitals & Care.
Using 19th century instruments including a Bösendorfer piano from 1872, the duo will bring a programme of Beethoven Sonatas to the RNCM, marking the beginning of a new collaboration which will see them enter the recording studio next year. All proceeds will go towards Music in Hospitals & Care’s work bringing professional musicians into hospitals, hospices, care homes, day centres, special schools and community settings.
Innovationspreis für Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen
Die Deutsche Orchester-Stiftung hat die Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen mit ihrem Preis als “Innovatives Orchester” ausgezeichnet. Die Ehrung wurde dem Orchester für sein Format “Netz-Werk-Orchester: Per Livestream aufs Land” zuerkannt. Dabei wird Musik per Videoübetragung interaktiv an entfernte Schulen vermittelt. Teil des Projektes sind neben der Musik auch Quizwettbewerbe zum Thema sowie Interviews mit den Musikern. Diese digitale Art der Einbindung von Schülern, für die sich ein Konzertbesuch schwierig gestalte, sei “innovativ und beispielhaft” und biete dem ländlichen Raum neue Chancen. Die Auszeichnung ist mit 10.000 Euro dotiert. Der mit 2.500 Euro dotierte Sonderpreis geht in diesem Jahr an die Magdeburgische Philharmonie. Diese setze sich besonders für Komponistinnen ein. Die Preisverleihung findet Mitte November in der Stadthalle Reutlingen statt.
Innovation Award for Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen
The Deutsche Orchester-Stiftung has awarded the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen as „Most innovative Orchestra”. The prize was awarded to the orchestra for its format “Netz-Werk-Orchester: Per Livestream aufs Land”. Music is transmitted interactively to distant schools via video transmission. In addition to the music, the project also includes quiz competitions on the subject and interviews with the musicians. This digital way of integrating pupils, for whom attending a concert is difficult, is “innovative and exemplary” and offers rural areas new opportunities. The award is endowed with 10,000 euros. This year, the special prize of 2,500 euros goes to the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra. The latter is particularly committed to female composers. The award ceremony will take place in mid-November in the Stadthalle Reutlingen.
Alexis Kossenko devient directeur musical de La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy
Alexis Kossenko a été nommé directeur musical de La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy. Le flûtiste, musicologue et chef d’orchestre, à la tête de l’ensemble Les Ambassadeurs, succédera ainsi à Jean-Claude Malgoire qui nous a quittés en avril 2018. Dans un message publié sur facebook, Alexis Kossenko fait part de sa fierté, de sa joie et de son émotion « de marcher dans les pas de Jean-Claude Malgoire » qui l’a aidé à grandir et s’épanouir dans le milieu de la musique ancienne, écrit-il. Il fait également part de ses projets à venir avec l’ensemble installé à Tourcoing, L’Etoile deChabrier en février 2020, la Messe en si de Bach en octobre 2020 ou encore le Songe d’une nuit d’été de Mendelssohn en janvier 2021.
Alexis Kossenko becomes musical director of La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy
Alexis Kossenko has been appointed Music Director of La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy. The flutist, musicologist and conductor, at the head of the ensemble Les Ambassadeurs, will succeed Jean-Claude Malgoire, who passed away in April 2018. In a message published on facebook, Alexis Kossenko shares his pride, joy and emotion “to follow in Jean-Claude Malgoire’s footsteps” who helped him to grow and flourish in the world of early music, he wrote. He also shares his upcoming projects with the ensemble based in Tourcoing, L’Etoile deChabrier in February 2020, Bach’s Mass in B in October 2020 and Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream in January 2021.
