BACKVíkingur Ólafsson named Gramophone Artist of the Year 2019
Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson has been named Artist of the Year 2019 at the Gramophone Awards in London. His album Johann Sebastian Bach was singled out for particular praise by the Gramophone judges for revealing new possibilities in Bach’s music.
The recording (Deutsche Grammophon 483 5022GH) features diverse original compositions and transcriptions, including Ólafsson’s own. Gramophone recognised Ólafsson’s gift for ‘making something familiar feel entirely his own, drawing you into a world where no other interpretation seems possible.’
Grafenegg Festival: Buchbinder-Vertrag bis 2024 verlängert
Am gestrigen Mittwoch, 16. Oktober 2019, hat Rudolf Buchbinder gemeinsam mit Landeshauptfrau Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Composer in Residence Konstantía Gourzí und Philipp Stein, Geschäftsführer Grafeneggs, das Programm für das Grafenegg Festival 2020 vorgestellt. Gleichzeitig informierte Philipp Stein über die Verlängerung des Vertrages von Rudolf Buchbinder als künstlerischer Leiter Grafeneggs bis inklusive 2024. Philipp Stein: «Mit der Bestätigung Rudolf Buchbinders als künstlerischer Leiter Grafeneggs bis 2024 und durch die Unterstützung des Landes Niederösterreich baut Grafenegg auf außergewöhnlich stabile Rahmenbedingungen. Eine Planungssicherheit, die uns die Freiheit gibt, kreativ und effizient an der Zukunft des Standortes Grafenegg zu arbeiten.
«Mit Rudolf Buchbinder hat Grafenegg einen künstlerischen Leiter, der weltweit zu Hause ist. Dank seiner Persönlichkeit, seinem Netzwerk und seinem konsequenten Festhalten an Qualität ist Grafenegg von der internationalen Festivallandkarte nicht mehr wegzudenken. Ich freue mich sehr, dass Rudolf Buchbinder auch weiterhin Grafenegg und damit das Kulturland Niederösterreich prägen wird, so Landeshauptfrau Johanna Mikl-Leitner zur Vertragsverlängerung von Rudolf Buchbinder um weitere drei Jahre bis inklusive 2024.
Grafenegg Festival: Buchbinder contract extended until 2024
Yesterday, Wednesday, October 16, 2019, Rudolf Buchbinder presented the program for the Grafenegg Festival 2020 together with Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Composer in Residence Konstantía Gourzí and Philipp Stein, Managing Director of Grafeneggs. At the same time Philipp Stein informed about the extension of Rudolf Buchbinder’s contract as artistic director of Grafenegg until 2024. Philipp Stein: “With the confirmation of Rudolf Buchbinder as artistic director of Grafenegg until 2024 and the support of the Province of Lower Austria, Grafenegg is building on extraordinarily stable framework conditions. A planning security that gives us the freedom to work creatively and efficiently on the future of the Grafenegg location.
“With Rudolf Buchbinder, Grafenegg has an artistic director who is at home all over the world. Thanks to his personality, his network and his consistent adherence to quality, Grafenegg has become an integral part of the international festival map. I am very pleased that Rudolf Buchbinder will continue to shape Grafenegg and thus the cultural province of Lower Austria, according to Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner on the extension of Rudolf Buchbinder’s contract by a further three years up to and including 2024.
La création du Centre National de la Musique (CNM) validée par le Parlement
Serpent de mer de la politique culturelle française, la création d’un Centre National de la Musique (CNM), établissement public pour soutenir la création musicale (à l’instar du CNC qui existe depuis 1947 pour le cinéma) avait été évoquée durant la présidence de Nicolas Sarkozy, abandonnée par François Hollande, puis relancée depuis l’élection d’Emmanuel Macron. Le projet de budget du ministère de la Culture pour 2020 prévoit d’accompagner sa création par « la mobilisation de 7,5 millions d’euros de moyens nouveaux », qui s’ajouteront aux financements déjà consacrés au secteur, dont les recettes de la taxe sur les spectacles de variétés. Le total des ressources publiques mises à disposition du CNM devrait atteindre 50 millions d’euros. Un montant de moyens nouveaux qui satisfait le rapporteur Jean-Raymond Hugonet même si le sénateur LR de l’Essonne regrette que l’on « ne trouve nulle trace d’un quelconque engagement pour l’avenir”
The creation of the Centre National de la Musique (CNM) validated by Parliament
A sea serpent of French cultural policy, the creation of a National Music Centre (CNM), a public institution to support musical creation (following the example of the CNC, which has existed since 1947 for cinema), was mentioned during Nicolas Sarkozy’s presidency, abandoned by François Hollande, then relaunched since Emmanuel Macron’s election. The Ministry of Culture’s draft budget for 2020 plans to support its creation by “mobilising 7.5 million euros in new resources”, which will be added to the funding already allocated to the sector, including the revenue from the tax on variety shows. The total public resources made available to the NJC are expected to reach €50 million. An amount of new resources that satisfies the rapporteur Jean-Raymond Hugonet even if Senator LR de l’Essonne regrets that there is “no trace of any commitment for the future”.
