BACKRPO becomes Royal Albert Hall’s associate orchestra
In a new five-year partnership, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is joining forces with the Royal Albert Hall to become its official Associate Orchestra. The announcement follows the recent appointment of Vasily Petrenko as the orchestra’s new music director, forming part of the RPO’s strategy to create a contemporary, inclusive orchestra uniting people of different backgrounds, ages, languages and cultures. Petrenko will conduct the RPO series of Mahler’s choral symphonies (Nos. 2, 3, 8) at the beginning of the 2020/21 season, in a landmark performance which will see the RPO joined by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, where Petrenko is currently chief conductor.
Salzburger Festspiele feiern 100. Geburtstag mit Domingo
Die Salzburger Festspiele haben das Programm für 2020 bekannt gegeben, dem Jahr in dem der hundertste Geburtstag der Veranstaltung gefeiert wird. « 100 Jahre sind Grund zum Feiern, sind Anlass, Dank zu sagen allen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, Mitarbeitern und Mitarbeiterinnen, die aus dem zarten Pflänzchen Festspiele das größte Klassikfestival der Welt gemacht haben », heißt es in der Pressemitteilung.Die Salzburger Festspiele 2020 dauern vom 18. Juli bis 30. August und beinhalten 222 Aufführungen in 44 Tagen an 15 Spielstätten sowie 87 Aufführungen im Jugendprogramm ‘jung&jede*r’ an 48 Spielstätten von 28. April bis 18. Juli und zuzüglich noch mehr als 50 weitere Veranstaltungen ‘Zum Fest’.Im Opernprogramm stehen Elektra von Richard Strauss, Don Giovanni und Die Zauberflöte von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Luigi Nonos Intolleranza 1960,
Modest Mussorgskis Boris Godunow, Donizettis Don Pasquale, Puccinis Tosca und von Giuseppe Verdi I Vespri Siciliani (konzertant). Die Festspiele halten weiterhin an dem außerhalb Europas nicht mehr auftretenden Placido Domingo fest, dessen Benehmen 2019 vom Publikum in Salzburg mit stehenden Ovationen plebiszitiert wurde.
Neben den Opernaufführungen prägen Konzerte in allen erdenklichen Formen sowie Theaterdarbietungen das Festspielgeschehen.
Salzburg Festival Celebrates 100th Anniversary with Domingo
The Salzburg Festival has announced the program for 2020, the year in which the centenary of the event will be celebrated. “100 years are a reason to celebrate, an occasion to say thank you to all the artists and staff who have turned this delicate little plant into the world’s largest classical music festival,” the press release says.
Un festival de musique classique au cœur de la Goutte d’Or
Du 11 au 14 décembre, le Lavoir Moderne Parisien célèbre la musique classique ! Sous le parrainage de François Salque, violoncelliste « au charisme et à la virtuosité exceptionnels » selon Pierre Boulez, le théâtre a choisi de dédier quatre soirées au grand répertoire. Dans un écrin chaleureux de bois et de pierre, La Semaine Classique s’est fait une place au cœur de la Goutte d’Or. C’est le Duo Solea qui est à l’origine de cette Semaine Classique qui fête ses deux ans cette année. Les deux musiciens ont choisi le Lavoir Moderne Parisien pour son ambiance intimiste, propice à des récitals et à la musique de chambre. Déplacer la musique dans des lieux nouveaux, proposer un festival à l’esprit collectif, encourager les jeunes talents et rendre accessible le répertoire classique, voilà l’ambition de cette semaine .
A classical music festival in the heart of the Goutte d’Or
From December 11 to 14, the Lavoir Moderne Parisien celebrates classical music! Under the patronage of François Salque, cellist “with exceptional charisma and virtuosity” according to Pierre Boulez, the theatre has chosen to dedicate four evenings to the great repertoire. In a warm setting of wood and stone, La Semaine Classique has made its place in the heart of the Goutte d’Or. It is the Duo Solea that is at the origin of this Classic Week which celebrates its two years this year. The two musicians chose the Lavoir Moderne Parisien for its intimate atmosphere, conducive to recitals and chamber music. Moving music to new places, offering a festival with a collective spirit, encouraging young talents and making the classical repertoire accessible, that is the ambition of this week.
