BACKPPL promotes Sarah Mitchell to head up membership and communications
PPL has promoted Sarah Mitchell to the role of director of membership and communications.
Continuing to report into PPL’s CEO, Peter Leathem, Mitchell adds communications to her current remit of member services, where she is responsible for managing the relationships with PPL’s 110,000 performer and recording rightsholder members.
Mitchell joined PPL in 2014 as head of public performance operations and moved into the role of head of member services in 2017. She was appointed to the executive management team in the role of director of member services in 2018.
As director of membership and communications, Mitchell will now also lead the team responsible for all marketing, PR and events, which is managed by PPL’s head of communications, Lynne McDowell.
Florian Ludwig neuer GMD
Nach dem vorzeitigen Ausscheiden von Michael Hofstetter als GMD des Stadttheaters und mit der einjährigen Abordnung von Jan Hoffmann an die Semperoper herrschte im Musiktheater des Stadttheaters Personalnot. Die ist nun für die beiden kommenden Spielzeiten behoben: Florian Ludwig wird für zwei Jahre musikalischer Leiter.
Dirigent Florian Ludwig wird für die beiden Spielzeiten 2020/21 und 2021/22 die künstlerische Leitung des Philharmonischen Orchesters Gießen übernehmen. Dazu wird er den Titel Generalmusikdirektor tragen. Unabhängig von diesem Engagement für die Interimszeit bis 2022, dem Jahr, in dem Cathérine Miville als Intendantin des Stadttheaters aufhört, läuft das Bewerbungsverfahren für den neuen Generalmusikdirektor ab der Spielzeit 2022/23. Ludwig steht für diese Aufgabe nicht zur Verfügung. “Ich werde mich so oder so auf keinen Fall auf eine GMD-Stelle bewerben”, signalisiert er.

After the early departure of Michael Hofstetter as Music Director of the city theater and with the one-year delegation of Jan Hoffmann to the Semperoper Dresden, there was a shortage of staff in the music theater of the city theater. Conductor Florian Ludwig will take over the artistic direction of the Gießen Philharmonic Orchestra for the two seasons 2020/21 and 2021/22. For this purpose he will have the title General Music Director. Regardless of this commitment to the interim period until 2022, the year in which Cathérine Miville ends as director of the city theater, the application process for the new general music director will start in the 2022/23 season. Ludwig is not available for this task. “Either way, I will never apply for a GMD position,” he signals.
