Orchestervereinigung: Zukunft der Orchester ist weiblich
In deutschen Orchestern geben immer mehr Frauen den Ton an. «Die Zukunft der Orchester ist weiblich», erklärte Gerald Mertens, Geschäftsführer der Deutschen Orchestervereinigung (DVO), am Mittwoch in Berlin. Während früher fast ausschließlich Männer in Berufsorchestern spielten, betrage der Frauenanteil heute 41 Prozent: «In absehbarer Zeit werden Frauen dominieren.»
Ein Blick in die Statistik bestätigt das: 1971 waren nur knapp sechs Prozent der Orchestermitglieder Frauen. Bis 1987 verdoppelte sich dieser Anteil. Gut drei Jahrzehnte später ist man jenseits der 40-Prozent-Marke angelangt. «Leider gilt noch immer: Je berühmter ein Orchester, desto geringer die Frauenquote», hieß es. Von 129 Berufsorchestern liege bei 14 der Frauenanteil über 50 Prozent.
In einigen Instrumentengruppen sind Frauen ohnehin führend: Bei den 1. und 2. Violinen gibt es fast doppelt so viele Frauen wie Männer. Bei den Bratschen liegen beide Geschlechter im Tutti derzeit fast gleichauf. Flöten und Harfen sind vorwiegend in Frauenhand. Beim Schlagwerk und den Blechbläsern dominieren die Männer. Nicht anders ist es bei Führungspositionen wie den Konzertmeistern.

In German orchestras, more and more women are setting the tone. “The future of orchestras is female,” explained Gerald Mertens, Managing Director of the Deutschen Orchestervereinigung (DVO), on Wednesday in Berlin. While in the past, men played almost exclusively in professional orchestras, the proportion of women today is 41 percent: “In the foreseeable future, women will dominate.
A glance at the statistics confirms this: in 1971, only just under six percent of the orchestra members were women. By 1987 this proportion had doubled. A good three decades later, the figure has now passed the 40-percent mark. “Unfortunately, it is still true that the more famous an orchestra is, the lower the proportion of women,” they said. Out of 129 professional orchestras, 14 of them have a female quota of over 50 percent.

L’Association pour le Rayonnement de l’Opéra de Paris (Arop), a collecté 17,4 millions d’euros de mécénat en 2019. Et même 23,7 millions d’euros si l’on inclut les places et programmes achetés, les espaces loués et les frais techniques payés, le mécénat de compétences…
