Vienna State Opera cancels performances

Vienna State Opera announced today that all performances until 31 March are cancelled

The announcement came following the Austrian government’s decision that indoor events with more than 100 participants, taking place from now until the beginning of April, are to be cancelled in an attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Austrian government has also banned Italians from entering the country unless they carry a medical certificate, and direct flights to Vienna from Northern Italy (Venice, Milan and Bologna), China, Iran and South Korea have been suspended.

A press release issued by Vienna State Opera said: ‘Following the Austrian Federal government’s decision which has been announced today, all performances and events at the Wiener Staatsoper will be provisionally cancelled from today until 31 March.’

Aus für Großveranstaltungen in Baden-Württemberg und Berlin

Wegen der Ausbreitung des neuen Coronavirus sollen in Baden-Württemberg Großveranstaltungen mit mehr als 1000 Menschen verboten werden. Die Landesregierung folgt damit anderen Bundesländern wie Bayern und Nordrhein-Westfalen, die bereits Verbote ausgesprochen oder angekündigt hatten.

Auch das Kulturleben der Hauptstadt wird an Theatern, Opernhäusern und Konzertsälen wegen des Coronavirus drastisch eingeschränkt. Alle geplanten Aufführungen in den großen Sälen der staatlichen Häuser in der Hauptstadt sind von diesem Mittwoch bis zunächst dem 19. April, also bis nach den Osterferien, abgesagt. Er empfehle auch den großen Privattheatern so zu verfahren, erklärte Kultursenator Klaus Lederer.

Cancellation of major events in Baden-Württemberg and Berlin

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, large events involving more than 1000 people are to be cancelled in Baden-Württemberg. The local government is thus following other German states such as Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia, which had already issued or announced bans.

The cultural life of the capital city will also be drastically restricted at theatres, opera houses and concert halls because of the corona virus. All planned performances in the large halls of the state-owned concert houses in Berlin are cancelled from this Wednesday until April 19, i.e. until after the Easter holidays. Culture Senator Klaus Lederer also recommended the large private theatres to proceed in the same way.

Renaud Capuçon a sa statue au musée Grévin

C’est Eve Ruggiéri qui a intronisé officiellement Renaud Capuçon au musée Grévin en présence de sa famille, dont sa femme, la journaliste originaire d’Aix-les-Bains, Laurence Ferrari, et d’amis. “De voir sa propre statue de cire c’est très émouvant. Je suis super honoré. Je suis venu avec mon fils de 9 ans qui a adoré” confie Renaud Capuçon après sa visite en avant-première lundi 9 mars au soir. Pour Renaud Capuçon “c’est un très beau signal pour la musique classique. Avec 700 000 visiteurs par an, c’est autant de monde qui se demandera peut-être qui est cet homme au violon.”

Renaud Capuçon has his statue in the Grévin museum

It is Eve Ruggiéri who officially inducted Renaud Capuçon into the Musée Grévin in the presence of his family, including his wife, the journalist from Aix-les-Bains, Laurence Ferrari, and friends. “To see your own wax statue is very moving. I’m super honored. I came with my 9 year old son who loved it” confided Renaud Capuçon after his preview visit on Monday evening March 9. For Renaud Capuçon “it is a very beautiful signal for classical music. With 700,000 visitors a year, that’s as many people who might wonder who this man on the violin is.”
