BACKLive Nation launches Crew Nation charity fund with $5m donation
The concerts giant is contributing an initial $5 million (£4m) to the fund to help support concert crews globally.
Live Nation will match the next $5m pledged by artists, fans and employees.
Eligible workers for support include tour managers, production managers, riggers, sound engineers, backline techs, lighting directors/designers, special effects teams, carpenters, and more.
Live Nation will be contacting crew members whose income has already been hit as a result of the cancellation or rescheduling of a Live Nation gig.
In a statement, the charitable fund said: “Live music inspires millions around the world, but the concerts we all enjoy wouldn’t be possible without the countless crew members working behind the scenes. As Covid-19 puts concerts on pause, we want to extend a helping hand to the touring and venue crews who depend on shows to make a living. Crew Nation was created to do just that.

Die Festspielleitung der Richard-Wagner Festspiele Bayreuth hat die diesjährige Ausgabe des Festivals abgesagt. Grund sind die Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung des sich weiter verbreitenden Coronavirus. 2021 sollen zusätzlich zu den vorgesehenen Produktionen “Tannhäuser und der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg”, “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”, “Lohengrin” sowie konzertante Aufführungen von “Die Walküre” gespielt werden. Der für 2020 geplante “Ring des Nibelungen” wird aufgrund der notwendigen Probenplanung ins Jahr 2022 verschoben. Die Karten sollen für die kommenden Festspiele ihre Gültigkeit behalten, der weitere Verkauf wird eingestellt. Die Festspiele fanden seit ihrer Wiederaufnahme nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg jedes Jahr statt, noch vor wenigen Wochen erklärten die Veranstalter zuversichtlich, dass dies auch 2020 der Fall wäre.
Richard Wagner Festival Bayreuth cancelled
The festival management of the Richard-Wagner Festspiele Bayreuth has cancelled this year’s edition of the festival. The reason is the precautions to contain the spreading corona virus. In 2021, in addition to the planned productions “Tannhäuser und der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg”, “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”, “Lohengrin” as well as concert performances of “Die Walküre” will be performed. The “Ring of the Nibelung” planned for 2020 will be postponed until 2022 due to the necessary rehearsal planning. The tickets are to remain valid for the coming festival, further sales will be stopped. The Festival has taken place every year since its resumption after the Second World War, only a few weeks ago the organizers confidently declared that this would also be the case in 2020.

Ceux qui souhaitent venir en aide aux artistes et professionnels de la musique dont les spectacles ont dû être annulés en raison de l’épidémie peuvent se rendre sur la page dédiée à cet effet. Chaque euro versé va au fonds de secours du CNM et sera abondé de la même somme par Spotify.
