BACKABRSM re-opens fund to tackle barriers to music learning worldwide
Applications to ABRSM’s global sponsorship fund providing musical opportunities to young musicians around the world open today.
Providing one-off grants of £5,000 for projects, the International Sponsorship Fund (ISF) aims to tackle barriers to music education outside of the UK and Ireland.
Eligible projects would include local festivals and outreach work, or high quality performance opportunities for young musicians in youth chamber ensembles, orchestras and choirs.
Tonhalle Maag wird zum Lichtmuseum
Zürich/Berlin (MH) – Die Tonhalle Maag, Interimsspielstätte des Tonhalle-Orchesters Zürich, wird in eine “Lichthalle Maag” umgewandelt. Nach dem Auszug der Musiker werde der Konzertsaal in ein Lichtmuseum umgebaut, teilte die Maag Music & Arts AG am Mittwoch mit. Ab September 2021 sollen dort immersive Ausstellungen gezeigt werden.
Für den Weiterbetrieb als Musikhalle habe sich keine Trägerschaft finden lassen, hieß es. Auch für die Tonhalle-Gesellschaft sei es keine Option gewesen, neben ihrem Stammhaus einen zweiten großen Konzertsaal in der Stadt Zürich zu betreiben. Daher habe man mehr als 20 Varianten für ein neues Betriebskonzept geprüft und sich schließlich für ein Kunstmuseum entschieden.
Tonhalle Maag becomes a light museum
Zurich / Berlin (MH) – The Tonhalle Maag, interim venue of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, is being converted into a “Maag Light Hall”. After the musicians moved out, the concert hall will be converted into a light museum, announced Maag Music & Arts AG on Wednesday. From September 2021, immersive exhibitions are to be shown there.
No sponsorship could be found for continued operation as a music hall, it said. It was also not an option for the Tonhalle company to operate a second large concert hall in the city of Zurich in addition to its parent company. Therefore, they checked more than 20 variants for a new operating concept and finally decided on an art museum.
