Ingrid Fuzjko Hemming
PianistIngrid Fuzjko Hemming is a Swedish/Japanese pianist who is a classical icon in Japan and beyond. At 17 she was struck by deafness just prior to her recital debut with Leonard Bernstein, and remains partially deaf today. Despite this adversity, Fuzjko went on to have a incredible international career, collaborating with the world’s top orchestras including the Moscow Philharmonic, Japanese Philharmonic and the Spanish Radio Symphonie.
In 1999, one of Fuzjko’s piano recitals and a documentary about her life was broadcasted on Japanese television, leading to her debut album selling two million copies and affirming her reputation as an international icon.
