Friends of Europe nominate Paolo Petrocelli as a “European Young Leader”
Paolo Petrocelli, 37, has quickly established himself on the European and international scene as one of the leading cultural managers of his generation. Petrocelli is the founding Director-General of the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona, the first international music centre dedicated entirely to stringed instruments, and Director General of the Accademia Stauffer, one of Italy’s most prestigious music institutions.
Supporting non-profit activity, Petrocelli has become a leading member of some of the most prestigious international organizations, including the United Nations, UNESCO, and World Economic Forum.
His impact on culture and innovation in the field has been recognised by Friends of Europe, one of the most important European think tanks, committed to promoting a new vision for a more prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive Europe.
The program promoted by Friends of Europe, launched in 2012, aims to create a new movement of leaders capable of giving innovative responses to new international challenges. The program also recognises individuals who bridge the gap between citizens and political elites, to strengthen trust in democracies. The selection of young leaders is handled by a distinguished committee, including the current President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola (herself appointed Young Leader in 2018).
The organisation, at the top of which sit several former Presidents of the Commission and the European Parliament and former Prime Ministers, including Herman Van Rompuy, Jean-Claude Juncker and Mario Monti, each year selects 40 of the most influential under-40 personalities in Europe.
These candidates signify Europe’s top young leaders, who through their civil and professional commitment, have managed to establish themselves with their ability to generate a positive impact within the European Union, in various fields, including politics, business, science, culture, and sport.
