Today marks the release of composer’s musical adaptation of Holst’s Planets, featuring the Synchron Stage Orchestra conducted by Gregor himself
HOLST is a take on the renowned Suite, breathing new life into one of titular composer’s most notable works for the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth. Gregor has encountered The Planets throughout his education and career and has become a great source of inspiration, especially in the film and Sci-Fi worlds.
By using Dolby Atmos recording technology, the listeners are able to enjoy the grandeur of Jupiter’s hymn to the haunting mysteries of Neptune through Gregor’s lens as a conductor, composer and devotee to the work. This recording highlights the finest moments in the original score from the grandeur of Jupiter’s hymn to the mysteries of Neptune.
Gregor has conducted the London Philharmonic and the Budapest Film Orchestra and has received two platinum records with the vocal group Adoro as conductor and arranger. His work earned him the 1995 BMI Music Award, a nomination for the 52nd Annie Awards in 2004 for Best Score for an Animated Feature Production, and the ASCAP Film and TV Music Award in 2005 for the score to the Spongebob Squarepants Movie.
‘HOLST: The Planets’ was recorded using Dolby Atmos and was mixed by Peter Fuchs. Peter has been recording and mixing orchestral and symphonic music for 35 years. His credits include scores for major feature films like Silence of the Lambs or Ironman 3, for video games like the Harry Potter or Call of Duty series as well as classical repertoire for labels like Philips, EMI Classics and Universal.
Founded in 1965, Sonoton Music set out to reinvent English archive music in Germany, creating an extensive library of original film and TV music. In 1992 Sonoton became the first music library to introduce a computer-based music search program.
Sonoton now produces music in-house at their studio complex as well as being a trailblazer in digitising their music catalogue featuring more than 100 labels and over 500,000 tracks.
