This September, WildKat welcomed two new faces into the London office: Amelia Sangster, joining as our Digital Intern, and Molly Arthur, who started as our PR and Communications Placement Student. Having both come from the University of Leeds, they arrived at WildKat at slightly different stages. One fresh from graduation and taking their first professional steps into the music industry, whilst the other is swapping university life for a year in the world of cultural PR.
Amelia and Molly: A little about us
Amelia:
“Hi everyone! I’m Amelia and I recently graduated from the University of Leeds with a BA in Music with Enterprise. Music has always been a huge part of my life, whether that’s playing viola in orchestras, discovering new artists on Spotify, or going to music festivals.
While studying, I became increasingly interested in the business and creative side of the industry. Alongside my degree, I managed the university string orchestra, where I also worked on its social media and helped promote our concerts and projects. This sparked my interest in how digital strategy can connect artists and organisations with their audiences, eventually leading me to the Digital Intern role at WildKat.”
Molly:
“Hello! My name is Molly and I am beyond excited to be working at WildKat PR for the next 12 months. I’m currently two years into an English Literature and Creative Writing bachelor’s degree at the University of Leeds, which I am thoroughly enjoying. I have often thought that reading your peers’ creative writing would make for a very interesting speed dating event. You don’t know a person ‘til you’ve read their sanctimonious poetry!
My life back at Leeds revolves around the university’s theatre scene, and I am an avid performer. I am most heavily involved in the university’s Open Theatre society, which puts on student-written plays. Although, one of my favourite productions this past year was the Drag Society’s shadow cast rendition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, in which I played Janet. I only hope that my time at WildKat is much more plain sailing than the movie.”
Why WildKat?
Amelia:
“What attracted me to WildKat was the opportunity to work across different areas of the music industry while being surrounded by a team of international experts that understands the industry and where it’s going. I loved the idea of combining my musical background with my growing interests in digital communications, while working with a wide range of artists and organisations. The variety of the role particularly stood out to me as no two projects are exactly the same!”
Molly:
“I found WildKat’s clientele very attractive when applying for this role. As a frequent attendee of my university’s symphonic choir and orchestra concerts, I was glad to discover that WildKat worked so closely with classical musicians. However, after witnessing the diversity of the company’s client list, I felt emboldened and reassured that WildKat’s expansive clientele would perfectly accommodate my eclectic tastes in the performing arts (though, since telling my mam that Cate Blanchett is a client of WildKat’s, she won’t stop telling people that I spend my time exclusively buying Cate’s coffees and running her errands).”
What are we hoping to learn?
Amelia:
“I am looking forward to developing a deeper understanding of digital communications in all its forms — how strategy, creative thinking, production and marketing campaigns can come together to connect with different audiences around the world. Diving into client projects, I’ve already started to appreciate the complexity, creativity and intelligence behind the work, and how each member of the global digital team brings their experience and unique skillsets to support each other and bring value to the work they do. I’m really excited to be part of this dynamic team, and to see how digital fits into the wider picture of an artist or organisation’s campaign.”
Molly:
“In the short time that I have been at WildKat, I have gained an appreciation for how quick thinking and adaptable you have to be to succeed in PR. Constantly shifting the narrative of a campaign to appeal to different media outlets, and reacting when the wants of audiences change, requires a confidence and mental agility that I am really looking forward to learning. The fluid nature of the job means that you perform many roles at once and I am excited to improve the wide range of skills that PR utilises, from research, to pitching, to client management.”
Our highlights so far
Amelia:
“One of my biggest highlights so far has been getting stuck into projects straight away and having the opportunity to see some of our clients in action. From attending performances as part of Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival to heading to the Southbank Centre for the London Sinfonietta and Jonny Greenwood event, I’ve already had some very memorable evenings!
The Southbank Centre was a particular highlight. I had the chance to capture digital content throughout the concert experience, create updates for WildKat’s socials and meet some of the creators and the Southbank team. Not a bad way to spend an evening at work!”

Molly:
“I’ve been here for less than three weeks, and yet I feel so spoiled by all of the opportunities that I have been afforded. For example, last Friday I accompanied Said, Senior PR Manager here at WildKat, and Jesús Herrera, Artistic Director of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (OMG), to the BBC Broadcasting House. As if this wasn’t enough, I got the pleasure of witnessing Jesús dazzle in his radio interview. Best believe that my family group chat was flooded with overexcited selfies and hastily snapped shots of the BBC News set, that morning.”

“That’s not all though, as I would be remiss not to mention my trip to Scotland, thanks to WildKat. On Sunday 20th of September, I travelled all the way to Dunbar to see the electric Frank Dupree and fabulous Timothy Ridout in concert. I feel massively privileged to have stood as a representative of WildKat PR at such a wonderful event.”
Looking ahead
Amelia:
“Looking ahead, I’m excited to take on more responsibility and start developing my own ideas and strategies for clients. I’m particularly looking forward to getting more involved in the creative side of campaigns, from coming up with digital concepts to developing them into strategies that we can present to clients. I can’t wait to see what I learn in the next few months!”
Molly:
“More responsibility, more insight into the intricacies of PR, more spectacular performances to attend- what am I not looking forward to? I am especially excited to become a more proactive member of the PR team, and interact directly with the clients that we work with. Likewise, I am eager to see the PR process from start to finish: to be involved in all aspects of research, outreach, and pitching, through to successfully acquiring press coverage and celebrating these victories with our- fingers crossed- extremely pleased clients. I can’t wait!”
