AAM becomes first ensemble of its kind to exceed 1 million monthly Spotify listeners

The Academy of Ancient Music (AAM) has become the first period instrument ensemble to ever surpass one million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Listening figures on the streaming service have seen an increase for AAM since the release of their new recording of Handel’s Brockes-Passion on 4 October 2019. The recording became the first major Handel work ever to feature at the top of the UK’s specialist Classical Chart last week, and secured the No. 2 position in the main Classical Chart upon release – making it only the second Passion setting by any composer to feature at the top of any UK classical chart in over a decade.

Wiener Staatsoper: Auszeichnung mit dem Europäischen Kulturpreis

Wenn am Sonntag, 20. Oktober 2019 in der Wiener Staatsoper anlässlich des 150-jährigen Jubiläums des Opernhauses am Ring die Europäische Kulturpreisgala – eine Veranstaltung des Europäischen Kulturforums – über die Bühne geht, wird auch das Haus mit seinen künstlerischen Säulen, seinem Ensemble ausgezeichnet.

Das musikalische Programm wird vornehmlich vom Orchester der Wiener Staatsoper und mehreren dem Haus eng verbundenen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern bestritten: Simone Youngam Dirigentenpult, KS Nina StemmeKS Thomas Hampson, KS René Pape sowie Alma Deutscher mit Mitgliedern der Wiener Philharmoniker. Musikalische Beiträge leisten darüber hinaus Geiger Daniel Hope und Sängerin Ina Regen.

Geehrt werden: die Wiener Staatsoper, KS Nina Stemme, KS René Pape, KS Thomas Hampson, der italienische Filmstar Sophia Loren, die Designerin Vivienne Westwood, Künstler Neo Rauch, der amerikanische Komponist und Mäzen Gordon Getty sowie die von Arnold Schwarzenegger mitbegründete Umweltinitiative R20 AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT. Der Nachwuchspreis 2019 geht an die junge Komponistin Alma Deutscher.

Vienna State Opera: Awarded the European Culture Prize

On Sunday, October 20, 2019, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the opera house on the Ring, the European Culture Prize Gala – an event of the European Cultural Forum – will be staged at the Vienna State Opera. The house will also be honored with its artistic pillars and ensemble.

The musical program is mainly contested by the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and several close-knit artists: Simone Youngam’s conductor, KS Nina Stemme, KS Thomas Hampson, KS René Pape and Alma Deutscher with members of the Vienna Philharmonic. Musical contributions are also made by violinist Daniel Hope and singer Ina Regen.

The following will be honored: the Vienna State Opera, KS Nina Stemme, KS René Pape, KS Thomas Hampson, the Italian film star Sophia Loren, the designer Vivienne Westwood, artist Neo Rauch, the American composer and patron Gordon Getty as well as the environmental initiative R20 AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT co-founded by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Young Talent Award 2019 goes to the young composer Alma Deutscher.

Adèle Charvet et Maya Levy remportent ex aequo le Prix Jeune Soliste 2020 des MFP

Comme chaque année, les Médias Francophones Publics, qui réunissent France Musique, la chaîne suisse Espace 2, la belge Musiq’3 et la canadienne ICI Musique, devaient récompenser le meilleur jeune soliste parmi leurs candidats. Surprise, pour cette édition, les MFP ont récompensé non pas un, mais deux artistes, jeudi 17 octobre 2019 : la mezzo-soprano Adèle Charvet et la violoniste Maya Levy. Les autres candidats de cette édition étaient la pianiste Aurore Grosclaude (Espace 2) et la soprano Magali Simard-Galdès (ICI Musique).

Maya Levy et Adèle Charvet recevront toutes deux une récompense de 4000 euros, et le soutien des Médias Francophones Publics dans leur carrière. Elles inscrivent leurs noms à la suite de ceux du violoncelliste Christoph Croisé (lauréat 2019), de Lea Desandre (2018), Nathalia Milstein (2017), ou encore Elsa Dresig (2016).

Adèle Charvet and Maya Levy are tied for the 2020 MFP Young Soloist Award

As every year, the Médias Francophones Publics, which brings together France Musique, the Swiss channel Espace 2, the Belgian Musiq’3 and the Canadian ICI Musique, were to reward the best young soloist among their candidates. Surprised, for this edition, the MFPs rewarded not one, but two artists, Thursday, October 17, 2019: mezzo-soprano Adèle Charvet and violinist Maya Levy. The other candidates for this edition were pianist Aurore Grosclaude (Espace 2) and soprano Magali Simard-Galdès (ICI Musique).

Maya Levy and Adèle Charvet will both receive a reward of 4000 euros, and the support of the Médias Francophones Publics in their careers. They write their names after those of cellist Christoph Croisé (winner 2019), Lea Desandre (2018), Nathalia Milstein (2017), or Elsa Dresig (2016).
