Young players aged 8 – 14 can now apply to the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) Training Ensembles 2021, this year taking place online between 26 and 31 July.
NYOS Training Ensembles are four non-auditioned summer courses focusing on learning repertoire, listening skills, musicianship, audition preparation and having fun. This year, NYOS is offering each two-day course for a lower price of £65 per player.

Theater, Opern und Konzerthäuser mit einem guten Hygienekonzept dürften nicht weiter pauschal geschlossen bleiben, bekräftigten am Mittwoch in München die Organisatoren, zu denen auch der Opernsänger Christian Gerhaher zählt.
Sollten Kultureinrichtungen bei weiteren Lockerungen der Corona-Beschränkungen wieder übergangen werden, werde man beim Bayerischen Verwaltungsgerichtshof (VGH) einen Eilantrag stellen. Dass der Einzelhandel vor der Kultur öffne, könne man nicht hinnehmen, sagte Gerhaher.

The initiative „Aufstehen für die Kunst” wants to increase the pressure on politicians to open cultural institutions and to achieve a simultaneous opening with the retail trade. Theatres, operas and concert halls with a good hygiene concept should not continue to be closed across the board, affirmed the organisers in Munich on Wednesday, among them the opera singer Christian Gerhaher.
Should cultural institutions be passed over again in the case of further relaxation of the Corona restrictions, they will file an emergency application with the Bavarian Administrative Court (VGH). It is unacceptable that the retail trade opens before culture, said Gerhaher.
