Box office opens for International Wimbledon Music Festival

Monday 10th September 2012

Today marks the opening of the Box Office for the International Wimbledon Music Festival. In-keeping with the international sporting excitement of this year’s summer, Anthony Wilkinson, the Festival Director, has coordinated a ‘World Music Fair’, gathering musicians from around the world, in a series of concerts to be held in and around Wimbledon.

World Music Fair boasts a wide variety of artists and repertoire from around the globe. Between the 10-25th November we will see performances from superb musicians such as: the Kopelman Quartet; the New Zealand String Quartet; the Wind Soloists of the LPO performing Mozart’s Gran Partita; American soprano Christine Brewer, named by the BBC as ‘one of the 20 greatest sopranos of all time’; and brilliant young Chinese guitarist, Xuefie Yang, playing her finest examples of Spanish music… to name but a few.

The festival will also host the European premiere of Benjamin Wallfisch’s Chopin’s Waterloo, and a new production of Stravinsky’s Petrushka, created by the festival in collaboration with the Little Angel Theatre with pianist Mikhail Rudy.
