Arvo-Pärt-Zentrum zieht positive erste Bilanz
Arvo Pärt Centre draws positive initial balance
One year after its opening, the Arvo Pärt Centre in Estonia has drawn a positive initial balance. More than 33,000 people would have visited the centre in Laulasmaa, located some 35 kilometres west of the capital Tallinn, which is dedicated to the work and life of one of the most important contemporary composers.
“The interest in the centre was even greater than we could have expected. It is gratifying that both young and old have found their way here,” said director Anu Kivilo on Monday to Estonian radio.
The Arvo Pärt Centre was officially opened on 13 October 2018. The archive, a concert hall with 150 seats, a library, reading and seminar rooms and exhibition areas are located in the light-flooded new building in a pine forest near the Baltic Sea. “There are also many musicologists and students who have a more specific and deeper interest in the music of Arvo Pärt and the materials in our archive,” Kivilo said.
The noisemakers are resurfacing
Figures of the shadow of the seventh art, they are carried by the vogue of cine-concerts. Illustration this weekend, at the Philharmonie de Paris. Plastic rulers, thunderboxes, bubble wrap, broom brushes, aluminum meters… This is not the inventory of the DIY department of the Town Hall Bazaar. But a glimpse of the strange ornamental orphéon that will join the musicians of the Manifesto Orchestra at the Philharmonie de Paris this Sunday for a film concert. At the request of its head, Mélanie Levy-Thiébaut, the noisemakers Élodie Fiat, Éléonore Mallo, Gilles Marsalet and Aurélien Bianco, have indeed created an unusual ensemble, composed of everyday objects and instruments from the world collected in the Musée de la musique’s collections, with the aim of bringing to life two short films by Charlie Chaplin: Charlot brocanteur and Charlot au music-hall.
