City of London scraps plan for ‘Tate Modern of classical music’

An ambitious £288m concert hall that was supposed to be “the Tate Modern of classical music” has been scrapped by the City of London Corporation, which said the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic made the plan impossible to complete.

The Centre for Music was billed as being an acoustically perfect 2,000-seat concert hall for the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and would have had restaurants, commercial space and a smaller venue for jazz performances.

NRW will bessere soziale Absicherung für Künstler

Als Konsequenz aus der Corona-Krise will Nordrhein-Westfalen eine bundesweit bessere soziale Absicherung von Künstlern vorantreiben. Gerade die freischaffenden Künstler hätten keine großen Rücklagen, sagte NRW-Kulturministerin Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen (parteilos) der Deutschen Presse-Agentur.

Das werde auch bei der Frühjahrstagung der Kulturminister ein Thema sein. Die Kulturminister der Länder arbeiteten unter Federführung von NRW derzeit an Lösungen.

After Corona: NRW wants better social security for artists

As a consequence of the Coronavirus crisis, North Rhine-Westphalia wants to push for better social security for artists nationwide. The freelance artists, in particular, do not have large reserves, said NRW Culture Minister Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

This will also be a topic at the spring meeting of the secretaries for culture.
The culture secretaries of the states are currently working on solutions under the leadership of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Décès d’Isabelle Dhordain, animatrice du “Pont des artistes”

Infatigable découvreuse de talents de la musique dans l’émission “Le Pont des artistes”, sur France Inter, la journaliste s’est éteinte à 62 ans.
Une « défricheuse de talents », dirait-on de nos jours.

Une amoureuse inconditionnelle de la musique, surtout. Isabelle Dhordain, journaliste de radio, à jamais la voix de l’émission Le Pont des artistes qu’elle a animée pendant vingt-cinq ans sur France Inter, est décédée des suites d’un cancer contre lequel elle se battait depuis dix ans.

Tireless discoverer of musical talent in the programme “Le Pont des artistes”, on France Inter, the journalist Isabelle Dhordain passed away at the age of 62.

A “talent discoverer”, one would say nowadays. An unconditional lover of music, above anything else. Isabelle Dhordain, radio journalist, forever the voice of the programme “Le Pont des artistes” that she hosted for twenty-five years on France Inter, died of cancer, a disease she had been fighting for ten years.
