Ariel Lanyi
PianistAriel Lanyi, born in Jerusalem in 1997 and now based in London, is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive pianists of his generation. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music—where he was recently named an Associate—Lanyi has garnered major international recognition, including third prize at the 2021 Leeds International Piano Competition, the Young Classical Artists Trust Award, and the prestigious Prix Serdang in 2023, awarded by Rudolf Buchbinder. In March 2025, he received the “Rising Star” music prize in Mönchengladbach.
Now, Lanyi presents his much-anticipated solo debut album Organ Reflections, to be released on May 23, 2025 via Linn Records. In this recording, he explores the sonic kinship between organ and piano through works by Mozart, Franck, and Reger. The repertoire—ranging from Mozart’s elegant miniatures originally written for mechanical organ to Franck’s luminous Prélude, Aria et Final and Reger’s monumental Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Bach—offers a deeply personal and virtuosic meditation on the organ’s lasting influence on pianistic language. Through Organ Reflections, Lanyi captures the piano’s orchestral breadth and expressive power in dialogue with one of music’s most enduring instruments.
