Duo Atlantis
Vocal and Piano DuoNewly formed Duo Atlantis is making waves in the classical music world as mezzo-soprano Rachel Payne and pianist Jack Tyndale-Biscoe embark on their debut international tour, Echoes Across the Atlantic: A Tale of Two Worlds. Just a year after forming, the American-British duo is set to perform in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls across Europe and the US.
The Duo Atlantis tour, which opened at Vienna’s renowned Musikverein and Salzburg’s Mozarteum in February 2025, continues with performances at Salzburg’s Mozarteum, London’s Kings Place, Salle Cortot in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington and Rudolfinum in Prague. Their programme builds a musical bridge between continents, showcasing the historic relationship between European and American art song traditions.
Payne and Tyndale-Biscoe take audiences on a journey that explores the cultural and artistic currents shaping transatlantic musical dialogue. Beginning in Britain with Elgar’s Sea Pictures and Vaughan Williams’ evocative settings, the program moves through Britten’s witty Cabaret Songs before crossing the Atlantic to explore Barber’s lyricism and Copland’s folk-infused works. The evening concludes with a retrospective on Romanticism, featuring pieces by Respighi, Rachmaninoff, and Dvořák, highlighting the enduring exchange of musical ideas between Europe and North America.
Rachel Payne, a mezzo-soprano from California, brings a voice reminiscent of the golden age of singing. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Vienna’s Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität, she has performed worldwide and is also known for her creative ventures, including the podcast Operation Opera and musical productions Anthem and Hoarders.
Jack Tyndale-Biscoe, a self-taught pianist turned Royal College of Music graduate, brings a dynamic and unconventional artistry to the stage.
