ECHOES

From studying together in Berlin in 2012, Kyrgyz soprano, Katharina Konradi, and Scottish mezzo-soprano ,Catriona Morison, have not only become great friends, but also share a passion for the genre of the Romantic Lied. This was solidified during their time together on the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists Scheme. By recording a joint album together with their friend and pianist, Ammiel Bushakevitz, who is of Israeli, American and South African descent, they are set to fulfil a long awaited dream.

The carefully selected pieces are not only personal favourites, but are also perfect matches for the timbres of the two singers. The result is an unexpectedly exciting programme that reflects the personality of the trio through diversity and contrast as well as harmonic perfection.

The repertoire is sung in a total of 3 languages (German, French and Spanish) and features works by well-known representatives of the Romantic period such as Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Camille Saint-Saëns, Charles Gounod and Ernest Chausson. Rarely performed pieces by women composers such as Pauline Viardot, Maria Malibran and Mel Bonis can also be heard.
