Gerhard Daum is a German composer and music producer, who has written award-winning music for film, television series, commercials, trailers, and video games in Europe and the US.

Daum’s musical journey began playing trumpet as a child; following his university music studies he worked as a guitar teacher at the renowned Jazz & Rock School Freiburg, and also toured through Europe with his own jazz and rock ensemble, the Gerhard Daum Quartett. He later founded the music publishing company Gerhard Daum Music Edition in 1993 and his label ToneWork Records in 1995.

Following a job offer at Bayerischer Rundfunk Daum’s focus switched to film music, and he began composing scores for German films and TV programmes, including the famous crime series, Tatort. After over 10 years working and studying in Hollywood, Gerhard Daum now lives in Berlin, where he continues to compose for a variety of productions.

In the spring of 2017 Gerhard Daum released his album Film Music Suites under his label ToneWork Records. The album presents original film music themes from European and US films & TV and new compositions. All tracks are composed and orchestrated by Gerhard Daum for symphonic orchestra. Collaborating with the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra for the recording, the album got rave reviews.
