Goldmund Quartet
String EnsembleThe Goldmund Quartet has been one of the most exciting voices in international chamber music since 2019. With its distinctive sound, artistic curiosity and technical brilliance, the Munich-based ensemble captivates audiences on major stages across Europe, the Americas and Asia. Since 2019, it has been the only ensemble in the world to perform on the legendary Paganini Quartet by Antonio Stradivari, an exceptional honor awarded by the Nippon Music Foundation that highlights the quartet’s artistic excellence.
Formed through a school friendship at the musically oriented Pestalozzi-Gymnasium in Munich, the quartet today comprises Florian Schötz and Pinchas Adt (violins), Christoph Vandory (viola) and Raphael Paratore (cello). Shaped by studies with Günter Pichler, the Artemis Quartet and masterclasses with artists such as Alfred Brendel, the ensemble has developed a musical language that combines depth with daring.
In addition to award-winning albums featuring works from Haydn and Shostakovich to contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass and Fazıl Say, the Goldmund Quartet is known for its uncompromising artistic spirit. Cross-genre collaborations and innovative concert formats reflect an ensemble that constantly reimagines classical music.
The year 2025 marks a milestone with the founding of the Goldmund Academy and the launch of the ensemble’s own festival at Irsee Monastery. Their upcoming album Dahoam, to be released in fall 2025, explores the connection between Alpine folk music and classical tradition. Further highlights in 2026 include a tour of the United States and a new Beethoven recording.
The Goldmund Quartet is more than a classical ensemble. It is an artistic collective that unites pioneering spirit with deeply felt musicianship.
