Julián de la Chicacomposer
Julián De La Chica is a Colombian pianist, composer, and storyteller who can also be encountered as a filmmaker and photographer whose work ranges from composing song cycles to complete synthesiser orchestras.
He is a founding member of the independent record label Irreverence Group Music in which he released the piano cycle Silencios Fatuos Op. 16 and other pieces. De la Chica has directed and written short-films like Agatha and Dora, both of which have received awards in various festivals.
His skills allow him to transcend not only the boundaries of genre, but also those of the musical medium. Thanks to his unique ability to provoke deep contemplation in his various works, listeners are given tools to delve into one’s self, humanity, and the delicacy of life and death.
In 2003, De La Chica had the honour to visit the United States for the first time as a guest of the then secretary general of the Organisation of American States and former president of Colombia to play a concert to their entire diplomatic body. Since then the composer draws his inspiration from New York and has been able to build an entire artistic community there. Moreover, he expanded his horizon in Europe where he experienced a spiritual awakening that has been the driving force behind all of his artistry.
WildKat is pleased to be working with Julián de la Chica on Press & PR for his upcoming projects.
