FlautistFor her third recording on the Linn label, Katherine Bryan chose a selection of familiar pieces for the violin and adapted them for the flute. Silver Bow aimed to showcase the flute in a new light, through much-loved and frequently played works, performed with a fresh, new perspective. Silver Bow was released on 18th September 2015.
Acclaimed flautist Katherine Bryan is rapidly confirming her place as one of Britain’s bright musical stars of the future. She made her concerto debut at the age of 15 with Daniel Harding and the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London and later made her US concerto debut at the Lincoln Centre with the Julliard Orchestra. Also a winner of the prestigious Audi Music Competition at the age of 15, Katherine initially studied at Chetham School of Music, Manchester, UK and won a full scholarship to study flute at the Julliard School of Music, New York. At the age of just 21, Katherine was appointed principal flute with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
