Nina Brazier

Stage Director

Nina Brazier is a Stage Director who establishes herself as a leader in her field, described as a “skilful director” by Opera Magazine, “ingenious” by The Stage and with “genuine music theatre sensibility” by Opera Now. The Observer also describes her as “one of Britain’s leading young directors of opera”.

Nina Brazier was trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Exeter University, The Royal Court/Channel 4 Directors Scheme, The Operating Table course at the Royal Opera House and on the Opera Europa Management Course. Three years ago, Nina Brazier moved to Germany to become Oper Frankfurt’s Staff Director for the seasons 2018-20 where she revived Brigitte Fassbaender’s “Ariadne auf Naxos” and Harry’s Kupfer’s “La Damnation de Faust” both to critical acclaim.

Her next production will be Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at Theater im Delphi Berlin on 12th and 13th July, celebrating her first fully independent opera staging in Germany. The International Festival of Young Opera Singers, organised by the Berlin Opera Academy, runs from 12th July – 15th August. Together with the musical director Peter Leonard and the ensemble and orchestra of the Berlin Opera Academy, Nina Brazier opens the annual OPERNFEST for its third run in 2019.

Future engagements include, amongst others, “Julietta“ by Bohuslav Martinů in September and “Drei Kurzopern Ernst Křenek“ in October at Oper Frankfurt. WildKat helps to raise her profile as an up and coming Stage Director across the German market.
