Philipp von Steinaecker is a critically acclaimed German conductor and cellist, responsible for founding Musica Saeculorum; an international period instrument orchestra based in Italy. Having extensively played and conducted a wide range of classical music, he has developed a distinct and profound understanding of the repertoire that has lead him to work with leading conductors including Rattle, Gardiner, Harding and Jurowski.

He has worked with the Orchestra della Toscana, the Gustav Mahler Academy Orchestra, the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, New Japan Philharmonic as well as the Kölner Philharmonie, performing his own Musica Saeculorum.
