Production CompanyQatar UK 2013 Year of Culture developed a varied and exciting programme to celebrate creativity, diversity and mutual cultural understanding. This musical collaboration between Qatar and the UK was experienced in two concerts at London’s Cadogan Hall and Edinburgh’s Usher Hall. Organised by the Qatar Museums Authority, The Royal Philharmonic and Royal National Scottish Orchestra showcased prominent British and Qatari composers bringing music of both cultures together. Soloists included violinist Chloë Hanslip, pianist Amira Fouad and cellist Guy Johnston.
The Royal Philharmonic was conducted by Barry Wordsworth and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra was conducted by Paul Goodwin. World premières dedicated to the Qatar UK 2013 Year of Culture by composers David Heath and Wael Binali.
