Tessa Marchington

Businesswoman, Entrepreneur and Pianist

A businesswoman, entrepreneur and pianist, Tessa’s work focuses on incorporating music into daily life and promoting culture and the creative arts. In 2007, Tessa established Music in Offices (MIO) in order to enrich business culture through the power of music. Inspired by Tessa’s time at the Royal Academy of Music, MIO provides instrumental tuition, sets up office choirs and organises internal and external music events to employers, working to improve access to the arts in busy, high-stress work environments. Several well-known employers have benefited from MIO, including Channel 4, The Telegraph, L’Oreal, Standard Charted, Linklaters, Lloyds Bank and Hearst Magazines UK amongst others.

As an expert culture collector, Tessa curates The City Culture Corner at City AM, where she shares news on a variety of interesting cultural events taking place across London. Additionally, Tessa produces Talk Culture Mile, a panel discussion series exploring the connection between culture, creativity and business. Tessa has also set up an annual Office Choir of the Year competition, the first competition of its kind, which involves thousands of singers from MIO choirs across a wide variety of sectors including finance, law, media and retail, with the aim of bringing together the respective choirs and their members.

Tessa is also co-founder of Investec International Music Festival, which brings world-class music to the Surrey Hills from artists such as Nicola Benedetti. Elsewhere, Tessa has served as Symposium Coordinator of – and will soon be Artistic Director of – Setúbal Music Festival, which enhances the cultural life of Portugal.

WildKat is delighted to be working with Tessa on raising her profile as a leading figure with an expert understanding of the value of music and the arts in business.
