Tim Benjamin

Tim Benjamin is a highly successful composer best known for opera, including the critically acclaimed Madame X (national tour 2014) and Emily (2013), The Corley Conspiracy (commissioned by and performed at the 2007 London Design Festival), and Le Gâteu d’Anniversaire (Opéra de Marseille, 2010) along with music for film, TV and the concert hall. He is also well regarded as an opera director, writer and public speaker, appearing at TEDx in 2015.

Awards won by Tim include the BBC Young Musician of the Year Composer’s Award, and the Stephen Oliver Trust’s Prize for Contemporary Opera for his first opera The Bridge, performed at ICSM World Music Days and the Covent Garden Festival.

WildKat worked on Tim’s project Life Stories, a double bill of new one-act operas (Silent Jack and Rest in Peace) with words by Anthon Chekhov and Anthony Peter and produced by Radius. Life Stories premiered at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester before touring to Preston, Halifax and Todmorden, followed by performances at the 2015 Tête à Tête Opera Festival.
