Countertenor, Zoltán Daragó set to release his debut album, Bach: Arias for Alto, on 13 September

Friday 23rd August 2024

The exquisite countertenor will be releasing his debut album of Bach arias, with the third single, ‘Barmherziges Herze der ewigen Liebe’ out today

Bach: Arias for Alto is a collection of 11 arias, recorded with industry titans, Les Talens Lyriques, and is a breathtaking display of Zoltán’s talent, even at this early stage of his career.

Reflecting the intense activity of the composer’s early years as Kapellmeister of the city of Leipzig, almost all the arias on this album were written between 1724 and 1726, when Bach had to compose a cantata for each Sunday service.

Les Talens Lyriques are renowned to launch careers and collaborate fondly with some of the industry’s biggest stars including Sandrine Piau, Ian Bostridge, Cyrille Dubois, Ambroisine Bré, Benjamin Appl, Marina Viotti, and so many more.

Zoltán made his debut with the Hungarian State Opera in 2015 in the role of Blindleech in Zsófia Tallér’s opera Leander and Linseed, the youngest opera singer in the company at just twenty-two. Darago sang important roles during three seasons with the Hungarian State Opera while still an undergraduate at the Liszt Academy, where he graduated in the spring of 2017.

In 2021, Zoltan Darago sang the lead in Philip Glass’s opera AKHNATEN in Helsinki, Finland’s OperaBOX at the Alexander Theater to critical acclaim. He reprieved this role in Helsinki in September 2022.

WildKat are delighted to be working on press and PR for Zoltán Daragó’s upcoming album, Bach: Arias for Alto.
