BACKDmitry Matvienko wins Malko Competition
Dmitry Matvienko has been crowned the winner of the Malko Conducting Competition 2021. The 30-year-old from Belarus made it through three intense rounds. One of three finalists, he conducted the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in Nielsen’s Maskarade Overture and the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.
Subsequently, the jury of the triennial competition – this year headed by the Danish National SO’s Chief Conductor Fabio Luisi – awarded him First Prize. As a result, Matvienko will conduct concerts with 24 international orchestras, including 13 in the Nordic region, and receive 20,000 Euros in prize money.
Regensburger Domspatzen gründen Mädchenchor
Die Regensburger Domspatzen wollen in Zukunft auch Mädchen aufnehmen. Ab dem Schuljahr 2022/23 sollen auch sie das Gymnasium besuchen dürfen, dazu werde ein Mädchenchor gegründet. Mit den gesanglichen Fähigkeiten der Mädchen soll eigenen Angaben zufolge eine “neue Säule der Regensburger Dommusik” gebildet werden.
Die Domspatzen selbst bleiben allerdings weiterhin als Domchor sowie als reiner Knaben- und Männerchor erhalten. Trotzdem soll mit neuen Angeboten für Mädchen die Tradition der Domspatzen gefestigt werden, gute Sänger sollen nicht an gemischte Schulen verloren werden.
Regensburger Domspatzen to found girls’ choir
The Regensburger Domspatzen intend to include girls in the future. Starting with the school year 2022/23, girls will also be allowed to attend the Gymnasium, and a girls’ choir will be founded. According to the choir, the girls’ singing abilities will form a “new pillar of the Regensburg cathedral music”.
The Domspatzen themselves, however, will continue to exist as a boys’ and men’s choir. Nevertheless, the tradition of the Domspatzen is to be reinforced with new offers for girls, with the idea of not losing good singers to mixed schools.
Sae Eun Park, première Danseuse étoile sud-coréenne de l’Opéra de Paris
Cette nomination est intervenue hier soir, à l’issue d’une représentation de Roméo et Juliette de Prokofiev, dans la chorégraphie de Rudolf Noureev. Sur la proposition d’Aurélie Dupont, directrice de la danse, Alexander Neef, directeur de l’Opéra national de Paris, a nommé Sae Eun Park, Danseuse étoile de l’Opéra national de Paris sur la scène de l’Opéra Bastille, à l’issue de la première représentation du ballet Roméo et Juliette (chorégraphie de Rudolf Noureev) dans lequel elle interprétait pour la première fois le rôle de Juliette le 10 juin.
Sae Eun Park se produira à nouveau dans ce rôle les 16, 19 et 23 juin, avec comme partenaire Paul Marque, lui-même récemment nommé étoile.
Paris Opera names Sae Eun Park first South Korean étoile dancer
The announcement was made last night after a performance of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev.
On the proposal of Aurélie Dupont, Director of Dance, Alexander Neef, Director of the Paris Opera, appointed Sae Eun Park as étoile dancer of the Paris Opera on the stage of the Opéra Bastille, following the first performance of the ballet Romeo and Juliet (choreography by Rudolf Nureyev) in which she interpreted the role of Juliet for the first time on 10 June.
Sae Eun Park will perform the role again on 16, 19 and 23 June, with her partner Paul Marque, who was also recently appointed étoile.
