Die Alte Oper hat einen neuen Intendanten
Markus Fein wird neuer Intendant und Geschäftsführer der Alten Oper in Frankfurt. Der 48 Jahre alte Fein, der zur Zeit die Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern leitet, tritt seinen neuen Job zum 1. September 2020 an, wie das Frankfurter Kulturdezernat am Montag mitteilte.
Er freue sich, dass mit Fein ein „auf vielen Feldern erfahrener Intendant“ an die alte Oper komme, sagte Oberbürgermeister Peter Feldmann (SPD). „Zu seinen Aufgaben wird auch gehören, neue Zielgruppen zu erschließen und jüngere und mittlere Generationen stärker als bisher ans Haus zu binden.“ Fein, der in Frankfurt geboren wurde, bezeichnete die Alte Oper als „phantastisches Haus der Möglichkeiten“.
Bereits im April war bekannt geworden, dass der bisherige Intendant Stephan Pauly Chef des Wiener Musikvereins wird. Er leitet die Alte Oper seit 2012.
The Alte Oper has a new director
Markus Fein becomes the new director and managing director of the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. The 48-year-old Fein, who currently heads the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, will start his new job on September 1, 2020, as the Frankfurt cultural department announced on Monday.
He was delighted that Fein, a veteran “experienced in many fields,” came to the old opera, said Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD). “His tasks will also include developing new target groups and binding younger and middle generations more strongly than before.” Fein, who was born in Frankfurt, described the Alte Oper as a “fantastic house of possibilities”.
Already in April it became known that the current director Stephan Pauly became head of the Wiener Musikverein. He directs the Alte Oper since 2012.

Spécialiste de la musique ancienne, elle n’hésite pas à participer régulièrement à des enregistrements de compositions plus contemporaines et même pour du rock et de la pop. Distinguée à de nombreuses reprises en Allemagne mais aussi à l’étranger (ECHO Klassik 2008, 2013, 2015 et Diapason d’Or en 2012), Dorothée Oberlinger est, depuis 2004, enseignante à l’Université Mozarteum de Salzbourg où elle dirige l’Institut de musique ancienne. Elle est, par ailleurs, directrice artistique du Festival de musique baroque d’Arolser (Allemagne) depuis 10 ans et du Festival Sanssouci de Potsdam depuis l’année dernière.
Le Prix Telemann 2020 lui sera remis lors d’une cérémonie à Magdebourg le 13 mars prochain mais il faudra attendre la fin du mois d’août pour la voir sur une scène française à la tête de L’ensemble 1700.

A specialist in early music, she does not hesitate to regularly participate in recordings of more contemporary compositions and even for rock and pop. Dorothée Oberlinger has received numerous awards in Germany and abroad (ECHO Klassik 2008, 2013, 2015 and Diapason d’Or in 2012) and has been a professor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2004, where she heads the Institute of Early Music. She has also been artistic director of the Arolser Baroque Music Festival (Germany) for the past 10 years and the Sanssouci Festival in Potsdam since last year.
The 2020 Telemann Prize will be awarded to her at a ceremony in Magdeburg on March 13, but it will be necessary to wait until the end of August to see her on a French stage at the head of L’ensemble 1700.
