Final Stay Close performance at City University London

Tuesday 20th May 2014

Stay Close, the exciting composition project led by Soosan Lolavar, will come to a close with its final performing this evening. Stay Close is a ten-month project harnessing contemporary classical music as a means of cultural exchange between the UK and Iran. Following research periods in both Iran and the UK, Soosan has produced a new piece of music that considers ethnic identity in the UK through the lens of the Iranian-British community.

A core part of Stay Close was a trip to Tehran where Soosan spent a month with Hermes Records which promotes contemporary and avant-garde classical music in Iran, as well as workshops in the UK with Farsi speaking young people and their families in South London.

You can find out more about Stay Close in this video which was produced by the BBC, and you can book a free place at tonight’s performance here.Stay Close V&A IMG_1577
