Free live streamed concert series from New York’s Atterbury House announced

Violinist Lara St John is presenting the ’Atterbury House Sessions’, a new live streamed series celebrating the 150th anniversary of New York’s Atterbury House with eleven chamber concerts taking place from 23 January to 5 June 2021.

The series will feature performances by Sybarite5 (23 January); violinist Tessa Lark and bassist Michael Thurber (6 February); the Ulysses Quartet (20 February); bassist Xavier Foley (27 February); PUBLIQuartet (13 March); The Westerlies (3 April); Imani Winds (17 April); Baroque violinist Aisslinn Nosky (24 April); the Brentano Quartet (8 May); violinist Augustin Hadelich (15 May; and St John herself (5 June).

Gekürzte Mozartwoche im Stream mit zehn Konzerten

Die Mozartwoche in Salzburg wird Ende Januar in einem gekürzten Programm zehn hochkarätige Konzerte in digitaler Form bieten. Das Festival sei auf fünf Tage verkürzt worden und werde vom 27. bis 31. Januar auf der Klassikplattform fidelio gestreamt, teilte die Stiftung Mozarteum am Dienstag mit. Ausgewählte Produktionen würden im Fernsehen (ORF III, 3sat), im Radio Ö1 sowie über weitere Online-Portale weltweit ausgestrahlt.

„Wir haben das bereits adaptierte Programm nochmals behutsam eingedampft und zu einer Mozartwoche destilliert, die in ihrer Essenz und Qualität exemplarisch für die Einzigartigkeit dieses Mozart-Festivals steht“, sagte Intendant Rolando Villazón.

Abridged Mozart Week in stream with ten concerts

The Mozart Week in Salzburg will offer ten top-class concerts in digital form in an abridged programme at the end of January. The festival has been shortened to five days and will be streamed on the classical music platform fidelio from 27th to 31st January, the Mozarteum Foundation announced on Tuesday. Selected productions may be broadcast on television (ORF III, 3sat), on Ö1 radio and via other online portals worldwide.

“We have once again carefully reduced the already adapted programme and distilled it into a Mozart Week that, in its essence and quality, exemplifies the uniqueness of this Mozart Festival,” said artistic director Rolando Villazón.

Yannick Nézet-Séguin écrit à Joe Biden

A la veille de l’investiture du nouveau président des États-Unis, Yannick Nézet-Séguin lui a écrit une lettre ainsi qu’à la future vice-présidente Kamala Harris. Bien que citoyen canadien, le chef a pris la plume en tant que directeur musical du Philadelphia Orchestra et du Metropolitan Opera. Il leur demande de donner la priorité à la Culture en cette période à la fois tumultueuse et dévastatrice économiquement, afin d’éduquer, unifier, faire du bien aux Américains.

L’impact de la pandémie est catastrophique sur les artistes et les acteurs du monde culturel, il faut que la nouvelle administration agisse rapidement, dit-il, demandant à ce qu’un membre du nouveau cabinet soit nommé pour se consacrer aux Arts et à la Culture.

Yannick Nézet-Séguin writes to Joe Biden

On the eve of the inauguration of the new President of the United States, Yannick Nézet-Séguin wrote a letter to him and to the future Vice-President Kamala Harris. Although a Canadian citizen, the conductor took up the pen as Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera. He asks them to give priority to Culture in these tumultuous and economically devastating times, in order to educate, unify, and do good for Americans.

The impact of the pandemic is catastrophic on artists and cultural players, and the new administration must act quickly, he said, calling for a member of the new cabinet to be appointed to devote himself to Arts and Culture.
